Yep, cancelled the day for the forecasted rain. Just got home and unpacked. I was getting everything set up early to make my pit stall nice-n-comfy and a fella walked over to let me know I was wasting my energy. LOL. Weather Channel forecast predicted 100% rain storms by 1pm, continuing through the afternoon. Looks like they missed it though. Checked again at my pit stop around noon and the rain time was moved to 6pm. Can't blame them for canning the event though. Crap happens and weather is sometimes a finicky ******* to figure out. Heck, I only had 4 hours to drive. Larry Carasea with the sweet lil red 61 Vette drove from upstate NY for this. He made 1 run in t-n-t last night, broke trans, swapped to his spare and now gets to drive bake home to NY. He checked all over NC and a couple other areas and couldn't find a track running a program he'd fit in today.

As for my 2 passes last night.... 1st pass wasn't spectacular. Doing my burnout, engine started breaking up like it was on the chip and shift light was flashing, well below it's setting. As I came out of the burnout, it cleared up, so I decided to run it, figuring maybe the tach has a problem. Have had that happen in the past with other hotrods. Reaction time stunk at -.014, car ran great, but did spin a bit at launch. Heading back to the trailer, the temp kept rising, prompting the "son of a b1tch, I thought I fixed this damm thing" thought. Get back, fan quit and relay is loose and super hot. After last race a month or so ago, I cleaned the terminals, reinstalled relay and couldn't make it fail at home, so figured I got it right. Lil turd proved me wrong. This time, I have it narrowed down better I believe. One female terminal in the housing isn't seating properly, unless I physically hold the relay down to the housing. It's now dangling loose from the wiring panel, zip tied together, so there's no way for it to get loose until I tell it to. Next pass after this was great. Engine never stumbled, tach/shift light worked properly, ran my usual ET and managed a .0104 rt, which kinda pumped up my ego.

Now, I'm trying to figure out, how this damm relay getting loose and killing the fan, may have been causing the engine/ignition to break up when I did my 1st burnout. I know grounding issues cause all kinds of havoc, but I don't believe this relay is associated with anything ignition related, aside from the master switch panel on the dash. I spoke with a wiring guy a few weeks ago about possibly rewiring the car, and should be seeing him at the CCRA race at Farmington in a few weeks. Hoping to get in another t-n-t before then.

Hey Fern, dunno if you heard yet, but rumor mill says Wilkesboro took a bad lightning strike last night. Haven't heard how bad any damage was or how long til it's fixed.

BTR I was at dinner near the track and it poured down at about 5. So no matter what I guess they were right.

Happy Sunday kids... Made an unscheduled trip to KDS yesterday. Guess I did ok, for me... I don't think this race was on their schedule, but may have been a make up race for one that rained out a couple weeks ago. I didn't know about it til Tuesday and didn't give it much consideration, since the forecasted rain throughout the week would have me working on race day. Managed to finish work around noon Saturday, and decided the trip was on. 4:30PM start time helped that for sure.

Unloaded car at 4:15, made a quick warmup lap and started cooling off/charging the batteries as they called my class, Mod ET to the lanes. Figured I had enough time, only to find out my charger was dead, or so I thought. The "stupid me" got a little antsy troubleshooting, and thought I saw 120vac output of generator when apparently it was really .12vdc, LOL... Spent the next 30 minutes troubleshooting/dissasembling a not dead charger, when it was really no output from generator. Missed that time run. Guy next to me was running top ET and said I could use his charger. That's when "semi-smart me" realized it was my generator, so I just plugged into his. Crises averted, but I had to wait for the time run cleanups for my 1st pass. Gave me time to laugh at myself and relax a bit. 1st pass, Good light, great run and felt good about myself. 1st round eliminations, redlight and car slowed down. My red was close enough to not be very disappointed, but then again, still red. Biggest reason for being there was to work on my RT anyways. Bought back in and won 2nd round, still red, but he went worse red before me. I realized right away that I let his light distract me. More learning to do from that. Car picked up, but not where I felt it would run with temps cooling off. 3rd round, I paid better attention to my side and had a respectable light, but ran well under my dial in. Other guy was on the good side of his dial, so I get yellow ticketed again. Thought I got out of it in time, but the timeslip shows I didn't.

All in all, another great weekend of learning a bit more and having fun. Had great neighbors on either side of me as well.

Hey Fern, CPD has a $6000 to win in both Top & Mod bracket race next weekend. Pretty sure it's based on 75 car minimum in each class. Braxton Promotions is putting it on. I believe a gamblers race Friday as well. Braxton puts on a good show. I've been to a few of his races at CPD, but haven't had the opportunity to race in one yet.

Y'all have a great week.

I figured it would be quite a tow for ya Fern. If I remember right, you're a ways on the other side of the Farm from here.

Hey Brian,,, here's your invite to the East Coast. They're running 6.0, 6.50 & 7.0 index classes this weekend as well.... Smile

Thanks for the invite BTR! & It has been some time since I hauled back East & raced. Been to about 6 different tracks in the Carolinas, raced at the Rockingham a couple times, the rest were outlaw tracks.

I don't have the gumption to hall that far anymore. I've done plenty of racing/hauling in my younger days.
