We all know it's a joke to consider traveling in an EV (by intention), but what is the reality of the cost to charge on the road?
No one seems to want to talk about that.
Aside from the line to get to a charger which I've seen, and the time it takes, what is the ACTUAL FEE to get a full charge at a roadside charger facility?
I saw a video from a duped young woman who thought it would be cool to take a road trip in a Tesla, and she learned it's a scam from the jump, she was NOT HAPPY with the scam. and if I remember correctly she was dropping some serious coin to get where she was going.

So what is the reality?

Oh yeah, forget traveling anonymously or undetected, because as near as I can tell you're going to need to use a money card to charge.

Gone are the days of handing someone some cash to get where you're going.

You can bet she voted for the first black president. It is these unbridled voting idiots that have repeatedly paved the way for the nations decline. I will say, I get a warm fuzzy when these people have their decisions come home to roost on their personal door step.

Once people understand how Kilowatt Hours work....they figure real quick how "affordable" it is. It is far from the hey I only pay $.07 / KwH so if it take 6 hours to charge my car at home it only will cost me $0.42.

Installed (4) commercial charging stations at a location a few months ago for the client I work for....and that investment for (4) stations alone....was over $85,000 by the time you factor in all the front end work, cost of the equipment and install. And believe me it is not just a receptacle on post either.

I don't know how anyone thinks this is the 'affordable' or will be.

And I don't know what anyone would do out west where there are parts that have hundreds of miles with no services - except a great view lol.

So what kind of service ( amperage ) is required or the minimum?
I see a bunch of issues trying to upgrade homes here.

Well first, this guy is trying to sell solar panels and Teslas, so I am immediately calling bull**** on those numbers.

But the question was "how much does it cost when you're charging at a roadside location".

As in you pull in and say "fill it up".

They're not going to sell you the electricity at cost.

The provided information only covers the cost of charging at home, with NOTHING added for the upgrades and equipment needed to facilitate the process either. It's pie in the sky cheerleader bull****.

If it takes 5 gallons of gas (oil) to to drive a combustion engined car 150 miles, it takes about the same amount of oil (or coal) to generate enough electricity to drive an electric car that far. Electric cars just demand that the fossil fuel is burned at the power station instead of under the hood. There is not, and never will be, enough solar & wind power to sustain the global demand for power.

I can not say this for sure about the master power grid but generally when going from gas generator to electric, compressor or what ever you lose quite a bit of output considering energy in. Nothing is free and everyone along the line gets their cut. Just like Government the more they have their hands in it the more it is going to cost us.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

Don't forget to factor in the extra cost of the Tesla over a normal sedan into the dollar per mile.

Hybrid is the best option over either that get compared IMO.

Electric power transmission has energy losses, and batteries suffer power loss over time, yes.

So use your favorite search engine. There's tons of info on the internet. You may even be able to find a source that you find credible.

LOL, yeah, the interwebs are a great source of real world, unbiased information. Laughing Hard

I ask because of the video posted by that young lady, who was furious about the reality versus the BS she had been fed.
I think she was saying it was $45 or $50 bucks every 200 miles or so, and the hours of travel time wasted finding a charge, and waiting for the charge..... Oh yeah, the mileage claimed would only happen if you don't play the radio or turn on a light, or use the A/C.

From what I can gather, it's not powerful enough to charge one of these pieces of crap.

I could get behind a vehicle that is electric driven with a gasoline or diesel generator, like a locomotive.

Wasn't the Chevy Volt originally done that way?

Our 1972 built home is on a 100 amp underground service....I'd have to kill a couple of 50 year old Maple trees and destroy our patio to run new service.
We've got it tapped out to run the house, and the shop.
