Stewart’s affairs with women never last more than six months. By summer he will have moved on from Leah and he will never be seen or heard from at a drag strip again.

And speaking of arrogance, don garlits has got to be one of the most arrogant humans i ever met.But people still love him for his accomplishments.

I found that too with DG. Very much so.

Or, maybe what was perceived as arrogance was HIS intolerance for meeting arrogant people...

My family and I had a wonderful time meeting him and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of an unplanned personal tour of his museum. It was early in the day, the door had just been opened and he was very gracious while welcoming us. The short tour and conversation he took the time to give us was definitely NOT arrogant behavior...

This was a number of years ago. The visit to his classic car building next door to the museum was a treat too. We met his wife Pat and his Mother. His Mom shared a couple stories about "Donny". It was a great experience for sure...

As for Tony Stewart, anybody that can afford a ride, can have a ride...

Really? F1 is THE premier series on the planet. I don't think he could ever compete with Michel Schumacher or (gag me with a spoon) Lewis Hamilton.

F1 is a technology race. I'd like to see one of those guys try to compete at the Chili Bowl or Knoxville in an open wheel car. They'd ask where the passing button was. LOL F1 LOL

You opened the door by introducing a series in which Stewart hasn't competed to prove he isn't the 2nd best driver. At least Roger's response of Chili Bowl or Knoxville have a commonality.

Using an illustration of absurdity to try and back up you point that a F1 driver would be out of place in a car of another series is weak at best.

I take this all very light heartedly. I don't follow NASCAR and have no knowledge of Stewart's accomplishments, other than he's been a controversial figure at times. My point is moot, if you can't see the levity then put your nose back to the grind stone. JFC!

I talked to an OLDER IHRA official at the Sportsman Spectacular two years ago and was asking him questions about his career. I asked so who is the biggest named driver who was a complete a hole. Yep good old Shirls........he got visibly irritated just talking about her and was bragging about how he tossed her from a race property decades ago. I won't say I was completely shocked I just thought it was funny. It didn't sound like there was a close second.

Anyone who charges money for their autograph is completely full of themselves. At our local track, Big was signing autographs. I figured it would be neat for my young son to meet some history of our sport. Get in line and there is a booth to pay. My son asked what that was about and why. I had no answer. We left. Doesn't make him bad for our sport. I just didn't care for the attitude and situation.

both of them are has beens that a minuscule fraction of 1% in our country ever heard of and today the only ones talking about them are old men living in the past and neither have anything to do with this thread which questions whether Tony Stewart will make a run as a Top Fuel pilot.

Being Tony is both a driver and a smart businessman, I think he will make a few passes in a DSR top fuel car just to say he has done it. The businessman in him knows racing Top Fuel makes no financial sense so I don't see him driving Top Fuel in competition unless he can bring in big sponsor money to fund it, even at that it wouldn't be more than a part time gig at best
