Altronics Inc now offers two PowerLite 16‑volt lithium batteries: the Pro Series and the Standard Series.

PowerLite Standard Series. At $899, The Standard Series delivers the same BMS protection and safety features in a slightly larger enclosure and weighs about one pound more than the Pro Series. Capacity is 20Ah—just one amp‑hour below the Pro Series—while still providing similar cranking performance.

After two years of field testing, the Standard Series has shown excellent results and comes with a 1‑year warranty.

PowerLite Pro Series batteries are proudly built in the USA using premium LithiumWerks (A123) LiFePO₄ cells, known for their unmatched cycle life. power, and reliability. Each pack includes a full‑protection BMS with onboard status LEDs, giving users real‑time visibility into battery health.

We’ve been building these packs for over a decade, and many of the units produced 10 years ago are still in service today—performing at roughly 95% of their original capacity. Their true lifespan is still unknown because they simply haven’t worn out yet. The Pro Series also includes an industry‑leading 4‑year full replacement warranty (never pro‑rated).

Man I keep trying to convince myself to pull the trigger on one of the 16v Pro battery and charger combos. My alternator is 12v though and I just can't make myself run without an alternator and have to charge between rounds. HMMMM

^^^^^Altronics offers a 12v PowerLite Pro Series Lithium that weighs 8 lbs. I prefer using 12v because if I have a battery failure, easier to source at the track. Pumps and fans run at a reduced speed also. Everything is compatible.

I’m unsure how Lithium batteries do when not fully charged. I Never charge battery at the track and used the charger less than five times while at home servicing the electrical system having the ignition ON for extended periods last year.

Mark, I know about the 12v option but if I'm going to spend almost 2 grand I am going to go ahead and step up to 16v. Having the 12v option close at hand is valid point.

Having never had a dead battery in all my years of racing it's not something that I have ever been concerned about though.

I changed from two Red Top Optima 12 volt batteries to a single XS D1600 16 volt battery. I then converted my 12 volt alternator to 16 volts.

My son Rob gave me the Turbo Start 16 volt battery from his TS car after he changed to a single light-weight lithium battery. I've been using that single XS D1600 for more than five years and never had any problems.

Out of guilt I'm about ready to buy another D1600 before the start of the 2026 season. I considered a 16 volt lithium battery but was advised to dump the alternator, something I'm not ready to do. What I have is all I need, I'm happy with the single 770 CCR D1600.

Agreed, but also don’t see the 16v need for sbc even with 14-1. 16v is a big block necessity imho.

I think your 139 / big dawg purchase from a previous post a better sbc value.

I agree 100% with that. It would be a “just because I want to” purchase. Hahaha Sometimes I just want cool stuff and am reaching a point where I can.

I know mine is OVER ten years old and still works fine, even without an alternator.

I charge mine every 2 weeks even when not in use. It only takes 2 to 5 minutes to charge.

At the track I charge it before I fire up in the morning and after every round. Max charging time is about 11 minutes and most of the time it is ready to go in about 5.
