To bad, California is running out of dragstrips.

Race tracks don't jive too well with Communist utopia progress. I find it nothing short of miraculous that two National events were run at Pomona this year. How much longer can that last?

From Facebook:

Auto Club Dragway After careful consideration on the best direction forward for Auto Club Speedway, the difficult decision has been made to permanently close Auto Club Dragway. We thank all of the competitors, fans and corporate partners who made so many wonderful memories at Auto Club Dragway through the years, and we look forward to making new ones as we embark on our 25th Anniversary Season at the 2-mile oval in 2022.

Take care. Tom Worthington

If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

So why doesn't Bakersfield run divisional races anymore?

If the sanctioning fee was less money then I think Bakersfield would host another divisional. Hopefully that can happen. Stay tuned! Right now there are only 4 division races scheduled in D7.

Hi Larry, I don't think Bakersfield is even running brackets anymore. All they have listed is the March Meet and several rice rocket test-n-tunes...

Keep complying

Smoke another rock if you think this ends in California.

Turn off you're TV and turn on Alex Jones. Everything he's been screaming from the top of his lungs for 20 years, is here.

By the time this is done, you'll be there anywhere.

With gas prices above $5.00 a gallon and increasing there is no way I could possibly afford to tow to Vegas, 720 miles round trip, Phoenix 680 miles, Tucson 820 miles to race on a weekend that would be absolutely stupid.

My only option is to race at Barona, it's race there or never go drag racing again. I can slow my car down to a point (6.31 +) where I don't need all the associated NHRA fees (license and membership). That has become my only option.

With all due respect to Texas at age 81 I'm not moving there or anywhere to go drag racing. It's Barona or quit.

When Cajon Speedway in San Diego County closed circle track racing in Southern California died.

Here in NC I live less than 2 hours from several tracks but few that have a regular bracket program. But Darlington is less than 2 hours and VMP is about 2 1/2 the other way. But the tracks are here, about 12 or 13 in between those 2. Going to Farmington today to test and to Bradenton, FL for New Years. CA is going down hill fast in so many areas and the moving vans keep heading east.

It is very bad to have tracks closing down all around the Country. Sure a few have opened up but we are losing way more. And Bob is right with gas prices what they are and going to get much worse things may change and not for the better. Car count (and Payout) may go down. Plus costs to race going up is bad. Like tracks many racers will have to decide if it is worth it.

I am lucky to live in North Texas and have 6 tracks with in 2 hour tow or less.

None of us race for the money and we are not going to get rich off of it. Still the further upside down it gets the worse it will be.

Elections have Consequences.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

It's very unfortunate for the young people coming up. Some of us have aged out so it doesn't affect us much. But it really affects the young and car culture. The socialist constant push for EV doesn't help either.
I have lived through the good times and have great memories. Too bad the youngsters aren't going to have those.

I'm much younger than Bob M. But I'm still old and would like to continue racing a bit longer. Don't care to go to Bakersfield (3 hour drive) but not much choice. Might try Barona but NEVER Irwindale (scary). DAMN this sucks!
