There's a reason that the most wonderful climates are the most expensive to live. Demand! I can't believe the costs of properties on the Florida coast. Of course people are rushing there for the wonderful weather and reasonable politics. So it's expensive. The mountains of TN were popular before covid. Just about impossible after covid. Some areas of CO are and have been overwhelmingly popular with physically active, left leaners. And the prices show it. If it weren't for the taxes, Illinois would be a reasonable place to live.
