In a burst of bipartisanship, the Republican-controlled Senate put President Obama's trade agenda back on course on Thursday, clearing the way for likely approval within days for legislation allowing the administration to negotiate global deals that Congress could support or reject but not change.

Not everyone sounded as pleased.
Sen. Bernie Sanders, a Vermont independent running for the Democratic presidential nomination, said the legislation would lead to a trade deal like others in recent years that have "cost us millions of decent-paying jobs and have led us to a race to the bottom where American workers are forced to compete against workers in low-wage countries who are making pennies an hour."

Clinton Silence Extends to CA Dem Convention, Warren Speech Ignites

ANAHEIM, California—Mention of 2016 Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has been noticeably absent from California’s 2015 Democrat convention as the party faithful flocked to the Saturday speech from Senator Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA)12%, considered by many a Clinton alternative.

The RunWarrenRun crew made their presence known. Bernie Sanders supporters showed up with volumes of flyers and banners touting their candidate.
But crickets when it came to Hillary Rodham Clinton

Dem hopeful Sanders once penned essay on women’s rape fantasy
It's not exactly what you'd expect from the far left candidate whose campaign runs on the idea of equality for all Americans.
Bernie also knows all.

President Obama is ‘all-in’ on trade, sees it as a cornerstone of his legacy

President Obama’s campaign for congressional approval to complete a sweeping Pacific Rim free trade accord comes to a head Friday, capping a months-long lobbying blitz and setting up one of the biggest tests of his presidency.
“The president is personally engaged on this,”

Chicago Democrats Make Appeal To Republican Candidates

Pastor Corey Brooks, of the New Beginnings Church of Chicago, has invited all of the 2016 Republican presidential candidates to speak to his congregation.

SIMON: Pastor, why have you made this appeal to Republicans?

BROOKS: Well, for far too long, Democrats have taken advantage of our community and just always felt as if we're just going to be there for them without having to do the things that are necessary in our community. The Republican Party has overlooked this, simply because they thought that - out of tradition and out of culture - that we're going to continue to just vote the same way all the time, but that is definitely not true. And if the Republican Party would be so kind to reach out, I'm sure that they will find a group of people who are interested in their policies and their practices.

SIMON: Do you believe there are Republican candidates with policies that interest you more?

BROOKS: Absolutely. I think school choice is a big thing. And I think, educationally, that African-American children should have the same privilege that all other children that come from well-to-do families have. And that is they should be able to go to any school that is a good school, and they should not be regulated to poor-performing schools in their community just because they live in a certain ZIP code or certain area code.

Clinton breaks with Obama on trade,

After being coy for weeks on her position, Hillary Clinton on Thursday clearly broke with President Obama on his trade push -- despite having supported the trade deal he wants as secretary of state.

US The ‘Only Advanced Country’ Where ‘Mass Violence’ Occurs

On Tuesday, Senate Minority Leader Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) said the United States is the “only advanced country” where public “mass violence” occurs, and more gun control is needed now to keep Charleston-like attacks from happening again.

Reid’s announcement that public “mass violence” does not happen in other advanced countries echoed a similar claim by Obama in which he referenced Charleston by claiming “that this type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries.”

Like Obama , Reid overlooked the January 7 Paris attack in which two men completely ignored “restrictive” French gun controls and killed 12 people at Charlie Hebdo headquarters. He also ignored the February 14/15 attack in Copenhagen, where a gunman shot and killed two civilians and wounded five others. Nor did he reference the November 18, 2013, firearm-related attack on the daily French newspaper “Liberation.”

And Reid made no mention of the July 22, 2011, attack in which Anders Behring Breivik killed 8 people with a bomb in Oslo, Norway, then shot and killed 69 people at a youth camp in Utoya.

Breivik’s ultimate goal had been to “kill all 600″ people

Dems skeptical on Iran deal,

The White House dispatched Vice President Joe Biden to Capitol Hill Wednesday to sell Democrats on the newly announced Iran nuclear deal, as several influential members voiced reservations about giving it their seal of approval in a vital vote this fall.

Biden was meeting first with House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, though the tougher lift may be on the Senate side. In the aftermath of the deal announcement in Vienna, senior Democratic senators made clear they were withholding judgment
