Other branches of the military have ended their sponsorship of NASCAR in the past few years, including the Army, Navy and Marine Corps.

McCollum has long attempted to end the funding. She sponsored a failed proposal in 2012 with Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) to cut off the funding to the military's sponsorship of professional sports.

The National Guard on Wednesday said it would end its sponsorship of the two racers due to "significantly constrained resources."

Hillary Clinton is giving some liberals flashbacks to 2008, and not in a good way.

Progressives are wincing over Clinton’s foreign policy comments in a blockbuster interview with The Atlantic, saying her statements are excessively hawkish and reminiscent of her past support for the war in Iraq. Some foreign policy experts, meanwhile, are criticizing her views as too simplistic; one analyst called them downright disloyal to President Barack Obama.

If Obama thinks Justice Ginsburg will retire soon to help Democrats,

To a group of Democratic donors at an event on Martha's Vineyard, President Obama made a somber prediction. A faction of Republicans is worried only about holding on to power, he said, according to the pool report. "And that’s why I need a Democratic Senate -- not to mention the fact that we’re going to have Supreme Court appointments, and there are going to be a whole host of issues that many people here care about that are going to be determined by whether or not Democrats retain the Senate."

he’s probably wrong

Congressional Democrats were critical Sunday of President Obama’s efforts to stop Islamic militants in the Middle East, suggesting the “mission has been lost” and that U.S. troops might be needed in Iraq.

The criticism follows Islamic State’s unexpected rise in Syria and deadly run across Iraq, which has been met by a U.S. humanitarian effort that includes air strikes on the militant group’s military operations.

Rep. Eliot Engel, D-N.Y., told “Fox News Sunday” that the United States might need ground troops to fight Islamic State, the militant group also known as ISIS, in Iraq and Syria.

“Ultimately, we may have some boots on the ground there,” said Engel, the top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. “That’s not something I want,” but we cannot “put our head in the sand.”

Congressional Dems critical of Obama's efforts on ISIS,
say 'mission is lost'

From NYT: “The meeting in the Oval Office in late June was called to give President Obama and the four top members of Congress a chance to discuss the unraveling situation in Iraq. But Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader, wanted to press another point. With Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader, sitting a few feet away, Mr. Reid complained that Senate Republicans were spitefully blocking the confirmation of dozens of Mr. Obama’s nominees to serve as ambassadors. He expected that the president would back him up and urge Mr. McConnell to relent. Mr. Obama quickly dismissed the matter. “You and Mitch work it out,” Mr. Obama said coolly, cutting off any discussion. Mr. Reid seethed quietly for the rest of the meeting, according to four separate accounts provided by people who spoke with him about it. After his return to the Capitol that afternoon, Mr. Reid told other senators and his staff members that he was astonished by how disengaged the president seemed.

Obama criticized by Dem as being

The leaders of the House and Senate intelligence committees criticized President Obama on Sunday for failing to decide yet on whether to hit Islamic State targets in Syria and urged him ahead of this week's key NATO summit to take decisive action before the militant group attacks on U.S. soil.

"His foreign policy is in absolute free fall," Michigan GOP Rep. Mike Rogers, chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, told Fox News Sunday."

California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein, chairwoman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, said in a separate interview that Obama is perhaps "too cautious" in his approach to combating Islamic State.
"I think it's a major varsity team," she said
