Elijah Cummings and House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa just moments after former IRS official Lois Lerner invoked her Fifth Amendment right not to testify in regards to her role in the tax scrutiny scandal.

If one of the most liberal countries in the world can make this statement why can't we? I'm not a "hater", somewhere back in my roots they came from someplace "off shore". The point I'm making is...it really isn't anti anyone (in this news story the Pakistani folks seemed to be having an issue with it) it is "pro" your country. Although the people that feel pro American somehow get looked down upon these days.
In one hand everyone is calling the USA "the great Satan", or some such name and then want to come to the states and disregard our customs and language because they have the right to.
In a way making some one pass a basic language class and a basic civics class helps them more than is though about at first glance. I used to work at a company that had guys (of Mexican heritage) that work there. They had a program where they (the company) would help them get the English course and citizenship course to become a US citizen. I was glad to say many of the people that worked there took them up on the deal. We all though very highly of the employees that took the trouble to take these classes. To the American born US nationals we felt they (the naturalized citizens) have earned it and they now deserve the rights and benefits we (US citizens) enjoy.
Was it easy? No. Well for what it's worth Mr Mireronfeld"s social studies class wasn't either. Think about it, if you knew it coming in that you would have to do these tasks to live in the country you are trying to immigrate to you are not being picked on, your civil rights are not being violated you are just paying your dues to join the club. It's fair.
