Politicians and Repubs is what killed the vote.

They didn't want the little guy to be in the position of making his own decisions.

VW management was in favor of organizing.

The loss came in spite of an unprecedented level of support from the company being organized. Frank Fischer, CEO and chairman of Volkswagen Chattanooga -- who had encouraged the idea of starting a German-style "works council" at the plant, like those in place at Volkswagen's other factories -- even seemed saddened by the outcome.

"I find it ironic that Bob King is calling illegal, the tactics used by the Tennessee republican politicians. It is right out of the Bob King playbook. Isn't that the same thing he threatened us if we didn't pass the last contract? We wouldn't have a new product at our plant or any that didn't ratify it."

"And another unsuccessful attempt at organizing a plant means the "strike fund" is depleted even more...better push to up the monthly union dues to 3 hours per month!"

Right from the brotherhood.

After rejecting UAW, VW workers may still get works council..........

The discussions have some of those who lined up against the UAW, both at the plant and outside, wondering if there is a new way to worker representation that fits better with a modern America that has moved decisively against traditional labor unions in the past 30 years. In 2013, only 11.3 percent of the American labor force was unionized, down from 20.1 percent in 1983. The latest government statistics show that only 6.7 percent of American workers in the private sector are in unions.

Bob Corker, a Republican U.S. senator from Tennessee, who was accused of interfering in the vote by the UAW for comments he made last week, told Reuters on Saturday that there was now the possibility of looking at workplace representation in the United States "in a very different way."

Corker, Chattanooga's former mayor who helped lure the Volkswagen factory to that city with substantial tax incentives, said whether a German-style works council is allowed under U.S. law is a tough legal question. He also said that if there was a need for a union then the workers should organize their own.

Looks like the workers just did not want your union.

This whacked out VW manager sounds just like the inept boot licking managers at the big three that gave in to the idiotic uaw demands and made the big three non-competitive and opened the door wide for the imports!!!!!

The uaw was created by a devout commie and run like a commie dictatorship for nigh on 80 years!!!!!
The uaw membership HAS NEVER had any input on who the top tier officials are!!!!!!

The politicians in Tennessee are being accused of meddling in the matter? The only boob I heard comment on the union election was "totus"!!!!!

Interestingly the left-wing lame stream moron media is treating this as a "slim" victory for the GOOD GUYS!!!!!
53& to 47%, that was a landslide according to the same left-wing lame stream moron media in "totus" versus Governor Romney?????

TAKE IT TO THE BANK!!!!!

Veterans organizations are not happy with U.S. Senate Republicans today, after a bill to expand health care and education programs for veterans failed to gain enough support to move forward, Reuters reports.

From Washington Post:

The measure , sponsored by Senate Veterans Affairs Committee Chairman Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), collapsed after failing to garner enough Republican votes to waive the VA spending cap established in a budget deal Congress and President Obama approved in December. Sanders’s office estimated that the VA legislation would have cost $20 billion over 10 years.

60 votes were needed to waive the budget rule but 41 of 45 Republicans voted against it, effectively killing the bill.

Calling it "Senate Shenanigans," the non-profit Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America lamented senate leaders who were engaged in "procedural games."

"It has been a winter of discontent, starting when Congress cut military retirement benefits before being pressured into reversing course," IAVA Founder and CEO Paul Rieckhoff said in a statement. "Then earlier this week, Congress forced the Pentagon to make budget cuts that increased living costs for our service members. And now the Senate can’t pass a critical and transformative bill that includes priorities that have garnered bipartisan support for years."

And this from the American Legion:

“I don’t know how anyone who voted ‘no’ today can look a veteran in the eye and justify that vote,” American Legion national commander Daniel M. Dellinger told WaPo. “Our veterans deserve more than what they got today.”

Some Republicans reasoned that the bill would be too costly for the budget, but others, led by Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) tried to add new sanctions against Iran to the bill that the White House has strongly opposed, according to Reuters.

"The issue of Iran sanctions ... has nothing to do with the needs of veterans," Sanders told Reuters.

Republicans are a joke.

I agree 100% that we send them in harms way, but see the "light" Bob where TF is the money going to come from???
In the Las Vegas Review Journal this morning, there is an article about how a Viet Nam vet went to the new $1 billion VA hospital for breathing problems from Agent Orange. He had to be transferred to Mountain View hospital for an emergency operation because the $1 Billion facility, which was twice as much as the original projected cost, wasn't equipped to handle the procedure ??????? So now, the VA is spending an additional $16 million to build 14 operating rooms???? I'm guessing with change orders the price tag on those 14 operating rooms will exceed $20 million!
And you have to ask why we can't financially take care of our own?? How many veterans do you think we could treat for half of that amount?????

When it comes to veterans benefits, *******s like you don't need to know where the money is going to come from for their injuries.

Take care of them first.
