Because the President and his Secretary of Energy have a common ideal with regards to gas prices. That being if Americans are forced to pay the same for fuel as other countries that the demand will go down.

They don't care how high the prices are at the pump if it suits their global agenda!!

Doesn’t this fit the pattern of the other crises? Oil goes sky high so an “oil czar” will be appointed who only answers to the presidunce, then for the good of the American people the oil company’s will have to be taken over “temporarily” to prevent gouging or excess profits or some other created reason. This guy is all about “control”. Just like someone on here said earlier, he’s never run a lemonade stand or any other business so he doesn’t have a clue what’s going on. He’s always been on somebody’s teat so he thinks he’s got all the best answers. We have NO energy policy with this administration other than whining and blaming everyone else for the price of energy. This may be by design! His policies are killing the democrat party along with the American public.

I guess if the bad economy is bottoming out and will be returning to better levels in the near future, I guess Obama is to blame on all fronts.

I smell a speculator in the woodpile somewhere.

Busted

Even under the bush administration it was pointed out the speculators were to blame in the beginning for the rising cost of fuel prices.

joe, now you came back to this board and try to blame Obama.

Are you a "tool" or a "fool"???????
Busted

Bob

Somewhere someone is missing thier village idiot, 2 things
1. I NEVER blamed Obama, you need to set the kool-aid down and try and comprehend what I wrote. Obama said doesn’t mind high prices. That’s it! The president does not control the market. (at least not yet)

as I explained to you on 4 different occasions, I am not sure how many times it takes before you are able to comprehend a subject. Ok, one more time for the slow kid in the room.

2. I invested in a stock (DUG)that shorted oil. The fund sold oil (it did not have) below the current market price, betting that the price would go lower (when the contract was due), this has the effect of driving down the price.
The only time you would short a stock (or commodity) is when you think it is way overpriced. Oil at the time was $140 a barrel, when it hit $70 I bailed out.

Bob, I would love to go into detail and explain how oil markets work, but it would be more then 2 sentences long and I would lose you. So until you learn what you are talking about, just keep parroting what you are told. LOL It makes me laugh at your stupidity.

Joe

Can anyone say power grab?
quote:
The Obama administration last night detailed a series of proposals that would involve the government much more deeply in the private markets, from helping to steer consumers into affordable mortgage loans to imposing new limits on the largest financial companies, in a sweeping effort to prevent the kinds of risk-taking that sparked the economic crisis.
The plan is an attempt to overhaul an outdated system of financial regulations, according to senior administration officials.
It would vastly increase the powers of the Federal Reserve in an effort to create stronger and more consistent oversight of the largest companies and most important markets.
It also would create a new agency to protect consumers of mortgages, credit cards and other financial products

Last Friday the queer muslim was crowing about his traitorous Cairo speech bringing new blood to office in Iran.
Today he can't muster the will to provide some encouragement to the downtrodden Irani people because he doean't want to upset the madman!
The Irani tyrants suckered the socialist liberal kooks and the oppostion in Iran with a supposed "reform candidate?" and an "honest?" election. Now the tyrants have identified the opposition leaders and they are being rounded up never to be seen again!
Unbelieveable that these terrorist groups can dupe the left-wing over and over and the leftists are so naive that they just can't comprehend that these people are simply EVIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Secret service? The Secret service has control over visitors lists to the white house?

They must not want the public to know about King Abdullahs visits to deliver oil revenue kickback checks....

Laughing

Anyways, it would be interesting to see how many times the much maligned Bush administration blocked visitors lists....

Obama Closes Doors on Openness
By Michael Isikoff | NEWSWEEK
Published Jun 20, 2009

As a senator, Barack Obama denounced the Bush administration for holding "secret energy meetings" with oil executives at the White House. But last week public-interest groups were dismayed when his own administration rejected a Freedom of Information Act request for Secret Service logs showing the identities of coal executives who had visited the White House to discuss Obama's "clean coal" policies. One reason: the disclosure of such records might impinge on privileged "presidential communications." The refusal, approved by White House counsel Greg Craig's office, is the latest in a series of cases in which Obama officials have opted against public disclosure. Since Obama pledged on his first day in office to usher in a "new era" of openness, "nothing has changed," says David -Sobel, a lawyer who litigates FOIA cases. "For a president who said he was going to bring unprecedented transparency to government, you would certainly expect more than the recycling of old Bush secrecy policies."

The hard line appears to be no accident. After Obama's much-publicized Jan. 21 "transparency" memo, administration lawyers crafted a key directive implementing the new policy that contained a major loophole, according to FOIA experts. The directive, signed by Attorney General Eric Holder, instructed federal agencies to adopt a "presumption" of disclosure for FOIA requests. This reversal of Bush policy was intended to restore a standard set by President Clinton's attorney general, Janet Reno. But in a little-noticed passage, the Holder memo also said the new standard applies "if practicable" for cases involving "pending litigation." Dan Metcalfe, the former longtime chief of FOIA policy at Justice, says the passage and other "lawyerly hedges" means the Holder memo is now "astonishingly weaker" than the Reno policy. (The visitor-log request falls in this category because of a pending Bush-era lawsuit for such records.)

Administration officials say the Holder memo was drafted by senior Justice lawyers in consultation with Craig's office. The separate standard for "pending" lawsuits was inserted because of the "burden" it would impose on officials to go "backward" and reprocess hundreds of old cases, says Melanie Ann Pustay, who now heads the FOIA office. White House spokesman Ben LaBolt says Obama "has backed up his promise" with actions including the broadcast of White House meetings on the Web. (Others cite the release of the so-called torture memos.) As for the visitor logs, LaBolt says the policy is now "under review."

"The new law bans candy and fruit flavors in tobacco products, and it limits advertising that could attract young people."

So does pop and energy drinks. Maybe they should worry about kids diets before they worry about smoking. Kids today have gotten so damn fat, obesity will kill them before smoking will.

Let me rephrase that, they'd better not touch pop and energy drinks..... point is if they're so concerned about kids, obesity should be the first priority. Tobacco is illegal for under 18, maybe they should concentrate on the people buying it for them.
