I'm sorry, but I think you are completely out to lunch for defending Al Gore's service in Vietnam. He did not go over there as an ordinary GI, but rather as a child of priviledge with no chance of being in harms way or carrying out the duties of the average GI. Just because he didn't ask for special treatment doesn't mean he did not receive it. Anyone that has spent any time in the military knows what is possible due to influences from Washington.

Not having served in Vietnam does not negate ones ability to criticize those like Al Gore!

if i were a commander, i would not want a "child of privilege" serving in my command. it would be a no-win situation. you either protect him (for fear of retribution should something befall him) or not(and take your medicine if something happened to him). it would be cause for a detrimental moral problem if he was given "special" treatment.

criticize Gore all you wish on his politics. don't be critical of his service in VietNam.
