Serious question - I have a serious "wobble" at the top end of the track after I lift my foot off the accelerator and before I hit the brakes. It continues till I slow the car significantly...seriously scary. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be causing this? Front shock settings, rear shock settings, alignment (although it was supposedly aligned before I bought it), four link set up, etc. It is straight going down the track under power, but is a handful at the top end.

My first guess would be bump steer. Check the steering for slop also.

Those cars are famous for bump steer, check toe in from about 3 or 4 inches up in travel to about 1 inch down( have someone push down) and see what is going on. Although they seem to wander around rather then wobble

andy, he said a 10.23 but aaaaaaa I think there's a lot more in it. I figure after the good spring go's away he should be in the 11.00 range. kinda like the old monti. oh andy a how big is your motor that runs in the 9's in the summer.

Andy's motor the runs in the summer is in the back of that mansion on wheels. He only shows up in the fall to race after camping season. Besides, we know where the HP is at when the blue whale is showing more MPH on cruise control than that my little pony of Andy's.

I think I may have found the problem. Plan to check the alignment but the front shocks are QA1s and were set on the loosest setting. I have stiffened the shocks and will see what it acts like next time out.

wont be there this weekend because of other commitments, but will be there in two weeks.

WOW,That's a lot of extra cubes he has. You would think it would be able to dust your stang with no problem. It must be lacking something like maybe, HORSEPOWER. I think whales are pretty heavy and clunky to .You need to run like a pony or fly like a falcon to compete with the big boys el culpeo.

145 more cubic inches than the mustang???really...

So doing the math, you have 351 cubes....no stroke, no extra displacement, etc?

There is more, much more in there George. its a big heavy car with a designed slow leave. 3200 pounds, big tires, 410 gears, powerglide, and not a whole lotta stall in the converter...

We will see what I can do with it over the course of the year and into next year....love the top end charge. I still have to move the shift point, launch RPM, timing, jetting, etc...could be some interesting numbers to post after two weeks.

Yes sir Mr. Madman. Slowed up a little from the better air we had at TRP last weekend. Can't wait for Culp to "follow me in" to the lanes!!

Well my friends, I have been checking out lakes and campgrounds and can honestly say i'am not feeling this camping thing. Just as costly as racing and I just can't get the feel for it. I've got the jr trailer moved in to it's spot and the falcon should be there this weekend. lake Wilhelm seems to be my pick for pontooning and fishing and the nearby camping area is nice. Still plan on trying it but not to promising.

Oh Where, Oh Where have the jackasses gone,
Oh Where, Oh Where can they be,
Two mustangs, a falcon, and a Pinto driven by John,
But at the stripe, only my rear bumper they will see.

Okay Andy, where were you? I waited all night Friday for you to show up and no mustang. Then I showed up on Saturday to race you and still no mustang....starting to look like you are scared....LOl

Funny thing is that all you Ford guys were screwed up this weekend. You never showed, the madman was there with no car, his boy Mike was driving a chevy Cobalt around the pits with a big smile on his face like he finally realized what a car should be like, and the YUKster was busy trying to open a drum of fuel. Good thing for Yuk, that a dodge guy had to show him that the bung can be opened if you are smarter than the drum of fuel....you guys are a mess.

This weekend coming up(May 15-16th) is our first points weekend of the year!! A reminder for anyone in Top class wanting to run in Modified due to the changing of 1/8th mile, you must contact IHRA and switch your X number from Top to Modified if you want your points to count towards the Summit Super Series! Also, if your switching from Top to Modified, you MUST take the delay box out of the vehicle, no exceptions!! You must also show Terry in tech that the box has been removed from the vehicle. Dragsters are permitted to run in Modified, so long as they remove the box, per IHRA ruling.
