See, he's in your head!

I believe a big reason the TD/TS fields don't fill for NHRA is because it costs so much money to field even a "slow" TD/TS entry most are not willing to take 2 days off work, travel hundreds of miles, and beat up their stuff without a guarantee they will be racing first round. We all work or have worked too hard not to have the opportunity to race E1 in a sportsman level class.

I appreciate that qualified field racing is awesome, but it is not always practical in this era. PDRA is successful with these two classes because of their B field and Open Comp guarantee that you will be racing if your car is running. NHRA should adopt a similar model with a Top Comp class for TD/TS non-qualifiers + racers who just want to bracket race 1/4 mile. Regardless of whether or not you prefer 1/4 mile or 1/8 mile, quarter mile bracket racing should still be available to those who want to race that way. NHRA could even make Top Comp a points series that counts as another competing track at the Division's Summit ET finals which looks to be shrinking because of IHRA.

Another option would be making TD/TS an open field at Divisionals and keep nationals at 32 entries; or changing the ET break rules to so long as you can run 7.00 / 7.25 or faster you're in the program. Any of these changes would probably boost the car count overnight.

It defeats the purpose of running brackets having to qualify to run bracket ... qualifying for shoe polish racing is stupid....but nhra knows how racers think and they're cashing in on racers ego

LOL; Dave, you have a way with words!

I would venture to say the vast majority of TD/TS racers don't consider themselves as bracket racers.

Of course they don't because they are real racers going so fast....BUT they have to dial in, hit the brakes just like bracket reacers....They just have to extra NHRA joy of not being able to go as fast as they want..So some day TD will be like index racing because everyvbody will be bunched up at the allowed 6.00 dial...err I mean limit...err I mean index

Bottom line, bullshyt yourselves, but if theres a dial-in on the car. you are a bracket racer....

Dave? Dave?
Dave’s not here!

Comp is the same with fixed and personal indexes that bite ya!
Superstock is a dial unless it’s for class as well as Stock.
Pro stock is no longer a Variety class as its cookie cutter motor supplier with no big three motor combos or sell on Monday theme. Still fast and neat.
Remember when Lee Shepherd, Warren Johnson, Bob Glidden and Bill Jenkins dominated and forced competition to brain storm, tune and spend to catch them?
That’s Drag Racing!
Now’s it’s a softer class .. keeping it fair.

It reminds me of when my sponsor S&S Automotive ran the SBC in Top Alcohol! Every time Rick won a race the Hemi boys cried to NHRA! Next week, weight added to the combo until they killed the combo! They hosed the Santos Family!

Huge difference between lifting/braking to save your index and losing/going home because you went to fast. There's absolutely a place for bracket racing. I personally enjoy index racing....Super E (67.90) was/is favourite because it is pretty fast racing...
My point in all this is call a spade a spade...T/D is bracket racing...and when/if everybody bunches up at the 6.0 max it will then be just index racing...VERY fast racing yes...but
