My only bad experience with them was 15 years ago, and I gotta admit, I still have a bit of a hard on about it. Bought a complete trans in December, and when the season started here the pump went out in about 30 passes. They told me to go scratch, and offered to sell me a new pump. Good thing I don't hold grudges. Smile

I must have missed the joke.

You bring the Mopar pain on yourself. LOL

Well yes and no. I had two Hemi's sitting here and no BBC's anywhere. Before go to selling thing/ AT 20 cent on the dollar I would have to sale two aluminum block billet head motors to buy equal power new BBC and still have zero backup parts.

As for joke the whole paragraph was a joking thing.

Pump went bad? What does that mean, pump went bad? What the pump gear broke or the pump gear dug itself into the pump half?

Pumps just don't go bad, believe it or not.

I knew there was shortage a year ago. I went thru Summits web site and since not listed as out of stock I figured it had been covered. I did notice Jegs had some listed out of stock.

Maybe I need to put in a order and hope to have cost covered when they get them. All I have to do is put money on hold and not spend. Funniest joke ever told right there,

Al Thanks for info. As stated earlier in post I have mid plate thats made as adapter that I built for the car. I just never have liked them .Not near a rigid of deal as my 7/16 studs connecting trans straight to block. Not sure others are made but this one has bolt head sunk into plate about 1/8" leaving 1/8" holding trans to plate. May work but can not be as strong. Maybe just me.

Between what we have ran and what's came thru the shop, we have seen ATI, Ried, and BTE cases. And honestly no complaints with any of them.

My next question would be are the bell interchangeable? Doubting it.

Asking because more than likely I will be only one at track running BBM bell. If trans bad and could borrow one odds are not in favor of but possible. I would like to have best chance of swapping bell and rolling. Sounds like Reid is highest odds of being what I find as someone's spare .Plus might find a out dated reid I could build as spare transmission. Heck I broke a trans in cpl burnouts and one decent leave. I know I can break one on full weekend race.LOL
no, Reid and ati use different bell housings

We have ZERO issues using an adapter. It is a 3/8" midplate and and we mount the trans on studs as well. Run them for years and never seen an issue and it completely eliminates the need for a two piece case or a Mopar bell. I also have a block that has dual bolt patterns on it so I could use a Chevy trans for it but that causes an issue for the starter. I have used every configuration out there. Currently in the dragster we have a Meziere 168 tooth flexplate and Meziere midplate mounted starter. The reason being we are using a 4.84" bore space Mopar block that is about 2" wider than a stock Mopar block and we wanted to stay with the one piece Reid case GM glide in it. In my stratus I have an ATI two piece with a Mopar Bell, I really dont prefer that combination of parts for the aforementioned reasons of replacing it in a pinch. I doubt I would be able to locate one at a race honestly. I actually have a dual pattern block in the car, but again starter mounting would require a midplate mounted starter and room is at a premium so it is an issue

Dug in and ate up. Stock style pump. The aftermarket pumps where just starting to catch on. They didn't even try to suggest that it wasn't their issue. But the warranty was up on it. I pointed out that I bought it in the winter time and we don't race winters in Illinois. He didn't care. I got the impression he would find any reason to not warranty anything they sold.

Nobody could pull a quote due to all the site changes over the years, but I can definitely recall you going around and around with Transman on this topic, and your tune has (understandably) changed.

The transmission case in my car is a Reid, everything inside that case came from BTE.

Welcome to the FTI family!

We have been using primarily Reids as they are the only ones that can get us cases right now. We do use ATI cases as well but they have not been available for some time now.

A lot of transmission guys would probably try to avoid this conversation, but I'm just gonna speak plain english for every transmission guy out there who has went through this type of awkward moment, with a customer they'd have much rather had a good business - racing relationship.

There's only one way this happens, User error. It's not a warranty matter, irregardless of the time span.
