The time has come for me to upgrade my fuel system in my bracket/index door car. Making a little over 700hp with a little more coming. Gas, carburetor and rear mounted tank/pump.
I'm looking at the MagnaFuel QuickStar 300. Who has been using MagnaFuel pumps successfully? Any issues? I would like to use Aeromotive stuff, but the cost is a little out of my budget.....

I like Magnafuel, Had mine for over 3 year. I hear Aeromotive is good also. But everyone I know uses magnafuel so that is why I went with them.

Make sure your water pump is on whenever you check your coolant level.

When I first got my car, I had a magnafuel prostar 500 on it. Didn't have any issues at first....when I stepped up my hp, I started having fuel starvation issues. Since they were local to me (when I lived in Colorado), I figured it would be a no brainer to call them and see what was going on. I had to replace the seal in the pump due to leakage, but other than that it looked brand new inside. When I told them what my issue was, they told me they couldn't help me until I bought their regulator first and tried that. I was running a BG four port that I'd previously used on my old car with an Aeromotive A2000 pump with zero issues. That kinda pissed me off so I called Aeromotive. The guy on the phone asked about my setup, what was going on, etc. He said it wasn't a fuel pump problem, it was a plumbing issue and told me how to fix it....Never once tried to sell me anything or say I needed a certain part to work. Because of that, I pulled the trigger on an Aeromotive A3000 setup and never looked back. Since I'm MFI now, I only use it for my nitrous setup. Way overkill for that, but has been flawless. Because of the way Magnafuel treated me, I pulled that pump off and sold it. I won't ever run them again. Kinda like I won't run ATI again either.

Best advice I can give you, call Aeromotive and talk to them. I think their pumps are superior to magnafuel anyway as they continue to develop them, where magnafuel just offers what they have for years.....It might not cost as much as you think....

Brian I have a Magnafuel 500 on my car and it does work fine but I'm not overly impressed with it. It's a struggle to get the high side pressure down to a reasonable number. I'm only making about 575hp on alcohol.

My best friend is putting together a Procharged small block car and has used all Aeromotive stuff. After having seen their stuff up close and seeing the fit and finish I will go with them from now on. The help and knowledge they have given him is second to none. There stuff isn't cheap but it is really nice. JMO

Magnafuel has a lower pressure relief spring you can swap out. Your issue is usually a result of running a 16v battery system with that pump.

Product Engineering is a better pump, they make the parts for Magnafuel.

I have an Aeromotive A2000 fuel pump coming back from Aeromotive after a full rebuild this week, if anyone is interested it’s for sale! We switched our bracket cars to mechanical pumps this winter.

Gonna put another plug in for Aeromotive. Just called them to order some stuff for my pump. Going through the website, the parts total is $49, but shipping to here is almost $90. Not gonna pay that, so I called them to ask if they can send it via post office. They don't normally, but they are going to take my order and hand carry it to the post office and send it via small fixed rate box which will cost me less than $10. How's that for customer service?

Mark, that is excellent of them to do that. I really hate getting gouged on shipping & "handling" costs.
I have not used Aeromotive stuff, I know it is pricey but can't speak to the product. WHen you were in Denver you probably did business with On-Track Performance? One of the last truly great full service Speed Shops you'll find anywhere. The owner told me he was having to warranty 3-4 times as many Aeromotive pumps as Magnafuel. I had no reason to doubt him, and he was not trying to sell me anything, (other than the black braided fuel lines and fittings I was buying). Now keep in mind this was almost 10 years ago, so things may have changed since then.

Bender I would go ahead and put the Magnafuel 500 (no filter) on it. That's what we have been using for several years with no issues on couple of cars. The no filter version is what we have been using.

My .02 for what it's worth.....Product Engineering . For 15+ yrs freshen when it needs it... Always supplies the fuel I need... The only reason I even replied to this post is I like to give a "shout out" to companies that actually provide a good product to this sport.....

I think this is my first post here, and since this is "fuel pump talk" it's a good place to start.
I'm building an '84 Camaro for bracket racing.
Don't have the motor back yet, but it's a 6.0 LS, stage 2 cam, and forged flattop pistons, that I'll be using with a carburetor. I estimate around 450hp. Powerglide with t-brake.
I've been looking at fuel pumps. I have an older Holley blue that needs the rebuild kit. Also looking at other similar pumps, Summit, Mr. Gasket, and the costlier Aeromotive. Without going crazy on prices, what is a good setup for me?
Thanks.

Truckman, for my money a Holley Black works just fine. If you stay on gas a blue works good also. They aren't really rebuildable if the seal or bearing/bushing goes out. I have run them for decades with little problems. Had a black leak after a while running methanol. I keep a spare and just swapped it out. A Jegs knockoff swaps right in if you want a cheap spare.

Can't argue with what Eman said other than to add that Aeromotive, Magnafuel, PE are American made. I do understand racing with a budget though.

I spent a lot of money with Tony and Lee at On Track.....more than I'll admit.....

Dave Slatten (RIP) turned me onto Aeromotive. He had five Magna Fuel pumps fail in one year, and his list of them failing was long.......Once he switched he never had an Aeromotive fail him. Mine have also been flawless. Every single person I know that's run or runs a Maganfuel has had seal failures on their stuff as well...most when it was the worst possible times....
