You must have NUKED that starter if it does nothing....

Throw it in the gaaabage

Exactly. It clicks some but nothing spins or engages. Heck the clicks are barely.

Like I said when it comes to breaking stuff I do it right. I think it trying to spin the motor with cylinder full of fuel and deadlocked.

I will be dropping pan tonight to see if any bearing got flattened from the hydraulic attempt. Might be waste but cheap and just requires little work.

I am in no way saying it is the fault of Mark's product.

I doubt that you wrecked that starter anywhere near as bad as the one I did back around 2013.....
Nuclear Kickbacks......Mark said I bent the armature or twisted it.....I was intent on racing that day and did not give a d-a-m-n if a starter died along the way and it did.....

Sounds like my attitude about killing a piston in funny car.Hey 100 bucks was minor if it got me a round win. I kind of had same thoughts Saturday about getting a run in. If it did not cost me a car or engine I did not care. Yes still piss; me off, but it is just part of the game at times.

So you destroyed one better than me. Dang sounds like a challenge.LMAO

So according to Ed I did outdo you by tearing up a new starter. Anybody can break a used part. Plus I did it in time trials before the race got started.

I wrecked at least 2 starters and a flexplate when I first built my 565

Nothing was any different than the 509 I had previously...

Didn't even get out of the garage before trashing what I had....

168 tooth flexplates lose teeth in one kick back...

Switch to 139 and the teeth live but the starter dies....LOL and it was brand new IIRC...HOP Big Dawg...tore it a new arse....LOL

I admit to being anal....I'm there, I paid my $ and I'm racing until I can't and my chit's broke....

Dirt car mentality.....Our dirt car customers in my engine building days would run their engine till it turned into a pile of junk....sometimes.

I know better but sometimes did stupid things.....and have worse stories that just starters and flexplates....

I did destroy one fexplat. Found new ring that I could weld on. Bought two at once. Also not out of the shop, but nothing new about it then.

Either you are a head or it is a tie. We both can destroy some shyt. LMAO

I do have TFX92 that has three hole and mains wiped out on 5th run.Long story as to why I did not lift.Hey ran 5.90 @ 321 even with all of that at 1000' cone . Driving last 320 between two orange cones since all I could see. Calculates out to about 1400 per pass just for block.

Got to love it or be borderline crazy. Maybe both.

after totally tearing starter apart and finding nothing that would give me reason to think anything hurt. Started wondering about starter and transbrake solenoid going bad same time. Too much.

I put a new battery in car out of trailer. everything seems to work now. So how do I have 16v at starter and transbrake wire but the piece hooked up does not? Grounds checked fine obvious by second battery. My only guess is short inside battery that showed when load applied.

So now for next battery. XS 1000 16v.Worked great but seems not lot of use and junked.

Even with proper shim engagement if solenoid or spring go bad it can destroy flexplate real quick. It will not go all way back into flexplate as it should and it chews up teeth on gear.
Solenoid and spring is pretty cheap and easy to replace. Much easier than changing flexplate. I keep spare starters, solenoid and nose gear to. Like I told you in PM they are not hard to change. I have a good starter / alternator guy here but if it is solenoid or nose gear do it yourself.
Went to 139 tooth flexplate around 2012 and one of best things ever for those who can run them, So much better.

If your motor kicks back that is a different issue and needs to be resolved.

You were not real clear on what needed to be repaired or why.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

You or I one mistype it 231 not 321.Wish. Did not check post but figure me typing w/o readers it was probably me. %91 at 231 with rods out was in TA/D think 5th run with whipple.

Not tangent when someone questions your ability or insinuates you did not know what you were doing. More pointing out some speak w/o knowing what they are talking about on the subject.List of stuff was just pointing out that if we did not know what we were doing we sure did damn good job faking it.

While I have lots of time working on every form of drag car and lots of street junk. I also have no problem asking a question and seeing if others have information that might prove me wrong on something." Only the stupid know too much to learn something new". Going off that seems a lot of stupid around.

Heck I am good with some ragging. The site is supposed to be fun. A lot of shyt has no place on this forum but it or they are here.

Bruce,
I have two parts starters. Have nose pieces and two of the wrong drives need to sell off and buy one 9 tooth. One solenoid, but very used. One starter on the way and as posted this one not bad. Seems you can have 16v at the starter but battery is still not enough to make the starter spin when jumpering. Guess burned inside and any real load kills it. A 12v connected spins it fine. Still have new 16v on the way from Summit.

He’s starting a new losing streak in TD now to go along with his 12 years trying to get past the 2nd round in S/C with most of those 12 attempts also a 1st round runner up. What a fucing clown

I love a happy ending! clapping
