My 91 isuzu pickup had some sort of egr/crankcase pump on it. I'd think most cars from that time frame have something similar. Get one of those, make a bracket, then connect your 20volt milwaukee drill to it and there you have it. You just gotta figure out how to mount the drill and secure the battery. Should be really cheap and efficient use of an old egr pump from whatever old car you can find and some left over parts from your cordless drill.

Keep us posted on the results.

Actually not that far off one diea. Question is switching it? Reach around engine to set trigger kind of out of question. Sure with siome digging can take wires oiff trigger and run to a switch.

Actually looking at proably need some kind of gear drive which have built before and damn lot of work there. Od electric motor and belt Kinf od like shat have seen udea to drive oem style water pump.

Have set of Harley cam gears that are 2:1 so a 2000 rpm drive spinning pump at 4000 same as engine at 8000. Still looking at 12v motors.

https://starvacuumpumps.com/pr...ric-vacuum-pump-evp/

This is a Star electric vacuum pump. $1500, I think they use it on motorcycles, may not be big enough to pull vacuum on a car motor with more cubic inches? A few things to note here. No pump will pull 14 inches of vacuum if you do not have good ring seal and motor sealed up. Smoke test motor before you do anything. Your problem may be a simple distributor gasket or valve cover leak and you may not even need a new ring set. Smoke test motor.

The instructions on the Star electric pump say to turn on pump right as you prestage prior to the run. That makes me think the pump motor and battery is marginal at best and still it will only pull vacuum on a small cubic inch, sealed up motor. Probably do very little on a larger motor or one that is not sealed up good. Smoke test motor. May be designed for a motorcycle or something that does not have a place to mount or drive a mechanical pump? And using a drill battery does not sound good to me, they do not last long and when they go dead it gives little warning. Not only that they do not last long before they will not take a charge and replacement cost around $100 each. Have to change and charge batteries between every run and if that battery does not last the full run then it will kill horsepower and consistency. When that battery goes dead it immediately goes from Vacuum to positive pressure.

On the first page here someone posted using a Toyota SUV electric pump and it would pull 4 inches of vacuum. I bet it does not do that wide open throttle, maybe with motor off or at idle? Still that is a long ways from 14 inches of vacuum.

I stand by my estimate that it would take a big motor to pull 14 inches of vacuum with an electric motor which would take a very large battery and alternator, would be very large and heavy. Wideopen has said he wants to pull 14 inches of vacuum, if you can do that with a little electric motor, drill motor battery and pump on a motor that is not sealed up good you have a gold mine. You could patent it and sell a bunch of them or sell the design to someone like Star or Moroso. You could be rich if you can do it. Make it happen and I will be one of first to buy one. Get r Done!

Never saisd I want to pull 14". I did say have seen some that stated possible, Prsonally do not care if it pulls anyting over 5 or 6 inches which is more than needed to remove all pressure in crank case plus enough to help with any leak that may popup. Hell my nova running 468 ci turning 8500 with alky injection had simple evac system wnad worked fine or seemed to. 30 plus years ago and no a lot of data lpggers in anything except fuel and maybe pro stock cars.Alky cars have puke tank spinning tjose at 11000 and nothing bu exit whole for pressure

What makes you think my motor noy sealed up? Guess only Curly knows how to seal a engine or anything abpout vaccum. Assuming everyone elses stuff not up to par sounds like former site member.Maybe not meant to be insulting but damn sure comes across as just that. But since not one assuming guess I am out of end result.

I mean hell the guy who owns a air balance company and has worked with exhaust systems for 40 years would never have idea that leaks mean lass vacuum. If pulls 1 to 2 hp as ms google says and typical electric drive for water pump make .3 which can be used to drive pulley system and get decent vacuum I know not 14 or even close, but enought to be negative crankcase.

God help someone want to try something different. That be like some guy putting shocks on a dragster have to be crazy to do that.If nothing else find out what not work and what it would take to make it work and throw in trash can. Damn sure not be first project I trashed and hopefully have more to go. Hate to think will quite trying something new. Working on something beats hell out of watching tv and cussing democraps and blood pressure hitting moon.

Besides if all fails whole pump can go on shelf and evac can be put on. before bs about zoomies and evac, Using 5 and 8 makes it work fine according to few who run both systems.

.

YOU said you wanted to pull 14 inches of vacuum on your third post on first page. Your words, go back and look it up. Third post first page. Now you say and I quote "Never saisd I want to pull 14"."

I simply stated a FACT, you can not pull 14 inches of vacuum with a motor that is not sealed tight with a little electric motor. That is a fact of Nature.
So are you or are you not pulling 14 inches of vacuum now? I you can not do it with a mechanical pump you sure can not do it with a electric pump.

On your very first post you said "Since not going to new ring package until get rods for other crank I can either keep what there for now or go pan vac system."
Translated to English I think that means you do not have best ring pack for seal which my response to that was your rings may be okay, most vacuum leaks are around valve covers, distributor shafts etc. Smoke test motor to find out if it sealed up before you try to reinvent the wheel. You may not have to buy new rotating assembly to get good vacuum.

I want a billion dollars will settle for ,milliom. If not aim for top you never get past half way up. Which still steps up. Hell want 10,000 hp but know its not going to happen.Nobody runs a vacuum pump wanting to pull minimum or should say very few.

Not going to new ring package means just that, One have to bore engine or swap sleves from other block to fit pistons and rings. Not doing that for whileF decicde to run bigger cranks which have brandnew one sitting in new block I would need .120 shorter rods. Until do go to new setup max vacuum not going to be much of gain since rings in notor not optimal for vacuum combo
.When posted about not runnio9ng new ring package also knew engine had leak at oil pan flange and had not yet finished new oringed pan ,which is now on engine. Took while to work out low profile with capacity and good baffling. According to shop vac and smoke gun no leaks there or vc's after adding second oring to burn down tube connection or hocse from pump. As for ring seal very low leakage if I leak test above 4% I pull engine down. Dyke top rings with totalseal second as have run for ever. Are they best thing nope but they still work damn well. Last leak down was 3% orless except one was 8% and that was tweaked exhaust.Key word was.

Explinations for wanting to try something other than stndard piece is done

Will say I prefer to assume most have good knowledge and not insult by telling them the obvious. Maybe over astimate some but then thats thiers to figure out or ask more. Just me.

As others sais and agree doubtful any OEM stuff goping to ;pull much, Not that have to have big vacuum but like to start with chance pf getting it .
