the first and last time I ever rolled on firestone tires was the late 70s.

If you ran them on a Ford Explorer that could have taken on a whole new meaning. ![]()

I've owned one ford that I bought from the original owner, in my life, never again. Every car/truck before and after has been a GM.

Iv'e had great service from Maxxis on several trailers. I would'nt run a Carlisle if you paid me, same could be said for Goodyear Marathons. No experience with the Goodyear Endurance. I will agree on the Michelins being very good. 272" Spitzer 540 Chevy The Blower Shop XR1 FTI XPM Series Converter FTI Level 6 Powerglide 3.69@199 .916 60' 2017 Bradenton Heads Up Madness Open Outlaw Champ 2018 PDRA T/D #5 2019 PDRA T/D #2 2020 Retired From T/D Competition.... 2020 Bradenton NMCA Hemi Shootout Winner 2021 getting back into bracket racing with a Gen3 Hemi powered 87 Cutlass.

Went from Marathons to the Endurance and they seem much better. Eric Macchiaroli S/R1355 80 Arrow

I took 6 G159 tires dated mid 2000 off my T&E gooseneck and put them on a 12k rated dump trailer and today they look like new and won't give up. The issue/investigation will likely only apply to OEM supplied Class A units only. The aftermarket replacement market will surely be exempt under user suitability disclaimer. BW

Personally I wouldn’t trust an 18 year old tire on a 12k dump trailer but that’s just me. Eric Macchiaroli S/R1355 80 Arrow

I have a lot of tires to keep up with and just did the swap as a "we'll just slap those on for a while"...that was over 10yrs ago. My 36'DP just got new Firestone FS560 steers. The T&E got Sailun S637 all steel (including sidewall). Don't scold me too bad, I saw the Sailuns on a lot of large LQ horse trailers.

I've always heard they're called Goodyear for a reason. They are only good for a year. Michelin's on my daily driver Tahoe, Firestone Transforce HT on my dually and trailer.

[/QUOTE] LOL,,, so when did Ford put Twin I-Beams on Explorers? Sorry, maybe the twin I-beam was just the full size truck but the older Explorers still had a funky front end set up with that long lateral arm that prematurely wore those tires. The later ones I believe had a more conventional control arm setup. My point was just that I don't think there was anything wrong with those tires but it was just Ford throwing Firestone under the bus! Billy Duhs - BD104X@gmail.com

According to Sammy Christians statement above I have done it wrong for a long time. 77 years old, never drove a truck bigger than a pickup, never had a special drivers license, yet routinely tow a 32 ft trailer behind a 40ft diesel pusher all over the country. Just went to FL and back for the New Years race at Gainsville. But no Goodyears here either. Last blow out I had was years ago and it was a Goodyear on my new at the time DP.....RV threads have advised not to use these tires for years. But so far my age hasn't stopped me and I still think a lot of tire problems could be prevented just by checking the air pressure every time you stop or have a TPS system installed.

I've not had too many tires that I totally disliked for whatever reason, but of those few they were ALL goodyear tires. Drag slicks, front runners, performance Z rated sport truck tires and at least one trailer tire. For those reasons, I completely avoid any tire sporting goodyear's name on it. Honestly I think the chinese off-branded stuff is of higher quality, and that's saying something about an "American" brand.
