My NEW MSD pro billet had the roll pin fall out after the 5th pass... I paid for a test session yesterday got to make 1 pass. 5.42 a new best for the brand new 582. Made the pass made my adjustments i needed to make cooled and fueled the car back up.. Hop in to make another rip start the car and its poping like crazy barely will run. I like wtf everything and i mean everything is brand new.... So i checked all of the obvious things... Got it started long enough to check the timing . Man its was jumping all over the place... Pulled the cap and low and behold you can spin the reluctor wheel on the shaft with your finger.... What if this had happen on the only pass i got... How much damage could of this caused as a result of this issue... I am more then pissed to say the least. This new comb has been a real pain in the ass... 5th pass mind you on a NEW part....

Yea sucks buy new stuff and get screwed. Not only cost of parts. Cost of what yopu destroy, cost for runs and in your case to test. Need to send invoice to product control and tell them it is for testing anf they failed.

Guess you are one of ten mentioned in my post aboput study of drag racers? LOL

So long as the cam and timing chain are intact, there should not have been any parts making contact. My rotor came loose at the top end of a run last summer, and the loud pop and bangs made me think the driveshaft came out...

Fixed the rotor, and completed the season.

You’re talking about the roll pin that goes through the distributor gear failed. Was the pin still in the gear but just sheared? Or no pin in gear just missing? Bronze gear?

Ok, no damage and easy fix. Consider upgrading to a crank trigger wheel if you have the room. The resolution is far superior.

Glad you found the missing pin. That could/would have driven me crazy. Take care. Tom Worthington

If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.
