Anyone try 10" converter with a baby blower. tried turning mine up a little and it seems to be slipping pretty excessively. Launch at 3000 flashes to almost 7000. shift at 7400 only drops about 400 and back to 7600 at the 1/8. 34.5 hoosier c1550. 4.30 gear 155-156mph. Told this is the tighest they can make 9" and still make it accelerate. Have the 33 pulley but want to step it up a little bit. would like it to go 160

I know a couple guys around here that have the baby blowers use 10" converters. Lots of torque -------------------- Bob Payton S/P, T/D, S/C, TOP 309Z, 393, 3093, 8X93 www.apdracing.com www.diamondracecars.com www.callies.com

Abruzzi WAT 06 9" to go 4.20's at 1950, crosses in the 7400 range in the 1/8th with a 4.30 gear and big bubba's. This is what I am modeling mine off of, there is a person that has 3 of these blower motors, 598's with a 31 tooth pulley making about 5.5lbs. Mine will be set up the same way but i will probably run the 35 and possibly a 33 in the summer. I will also be running a 4.10 gear. in the same boat...9" launches at 3800 flashes to 6900-7000 depending on weather, shift at 7400 fallback to 7000. 4.10 gear, little bubbas, high 4.40s at 156-157. Be nice for a comparison before dumping money into a converter.

started with 05wat. was even looser with less power. flash to 7200. barely fell back hitting rev limiter at 7600 at 153ish(had 33.5" tire at the time) Have the abruzzi o6v now. Performance hasnt really changed with either converter. For reference also tried a set of 2.5" headers with a 5" collector and made no noticeable difference vs a kooks 2.25" stepped to 2 3/8" with a 4.5" merge collector

06 V will be perfect for that imo. I have one and put it behind my 8/71 deal and it works very well, just a little too loose to try and go real fast

If it were me, I'd adjust the converter pressure if I had any room to 130 psi max at the out cooler line. If it matched the drop back (stall) 7000rpm making more boost with the 33 pulley, it would have to go faster, how much faster? dunno. If I were boosted, I'd have a roller thrust to make the window of opportunity larger, with converter pressure adjustments.

I have an FTI bolt together. 93BC specs. I leave at 4200 and converter goes to 6300 shift at 7300. Been a best of 4.35. Typically setup to go 4.50. 31 pulley 7 degrees out for 3 sec and ramp back in to 4 sec... last weekend @ I30 went 4.50 @ 155 Rick Huffman Accelerated Graphics Why was everyone Kung Fu Fighting?

Nitrous, what size motor? Rick what size is yours as well and how much boost are you making? What bottom pulley are y'all running? Keeping the Socialists and NEO-LIBERALS at bay with FACTS one post at a time !!! Freedom isn't free !!! Thank a veteran, they will actually appreciate it.

10" Northstar Transmission Specialties here. Its a little snug at this point in time cause it only wants to flash to 6200 with all the timing in it, shift at 7100 falls back to 6300. 598, Pro 2 380's, TBS 250, 67 bottom, 33 top, MFI, Enderle hat. When i pull 10+ degrees it flashes to 5800/5900. Less than 10 degrees of retard seems to not really affect flash all that much. Base timing is 30 degrees. With the TS 10", 4.30 gears, 34.5 tires, crossed at 152-155 mph 7200/7300 RPM. I tried the TS 10" with 3.70 and 4.11 gears with the same performance only difference was RPM at the finish line, 3.70 = 6500, 4.11 = 6900. My favorite combo for this car at this point is the 10" TS and the 4.30 gears. Swapped to an Abruzzi 9" its too lose like yours flashes to 6900/7000, then buzzes throguh the 1/8 mile around 7500. 4.11 gears, 150 MPH. It needs to be tightened up or swap back to the TS 10". Other projects have gotten in the way and everything racing is on hold till new shop is complete. PS i have no clue what the stator/pump combo is in the TS 10". I bought it second hand and its been back to TS a few times for adjustments once or twice before i got it so no clue what was done. Only thing i know is in a 2250 lb 4 link dragster, this converter flashed to 6900 on a 4.15/172 MPH tune up behind a 522 with a 14:71 HH.

Rick, everyone was Kung Fu fighting because they couldn't "Wang Chung Tonight" Nitrous, how is the consistency between the 06 and the 10" Thanks for the information, very informative post everyone, lets keep it that way. This one was on rails showing 8-9 psi on the memory gage i bought with the blower, really not the best apparatus but its all i got. No data logger on this car. 10" TS, 598, 67/33 pulleys, MFI, 4.30 gear. 8-9 psi, 400' DA. 1.035 60' pulling 12 degrees. 2.905 330', 4.484 155.8.

Just as consistent as when it ran 4.70s(different motor/converter) pretty happy overall. literally bolted it on this motor and sent it. 60 foot in good spring weather with the 33.5 mt 3183 would go 1.02-1.03 switched the the 34.5 hoosier c1550. goes 1.04-1.05 in summer weather. smooth tire. no shake. think changing the rollout from 105 to almost 111 was the big change there. picked up a little speed though. I thought the trap rpm would drop a little more. Hoosier must not grow like the 3183 did. I also have the boost memory kit. Anyone see it very from pass to pass. Boost seems to go up a pound or so as humidity and temps go up. Anyone else see that? abruzzi says the 06 v is about as tight as he can make a 9" and the 10" is the next step. Also says if it's blowing through the converter like that it's making serious power and should be faster. Havent tried the 10" I have one I may try. not built for this combo I want to bring the trap RPM down. Guess the 4.10 is next but I know that will make the converter slip even more

Nitrous1 - I’ve got an autometer boost gauge in the dash. I have to remember to look down at it but generally it says 6-7 with the 31 or 29 tooth. The 33 tooth around 2. When the da is better it appears to build more. Kinda hard to stare at it very long lol

I’d have to look at the grid data to be 100% accurate but I believe 7400 at the 1/8

You both are slipping around 15%, your converter is more efficient though. The design of the input shaft and pump (stator tube) in play, has an effect on converter pressure. Are ya'll monitoring converter pressure? Your converter is a bit more efficient than Nitrous1. Is it the same part # converter as nitrous 1? What brand input shaft and pump do you run? Different design pump (stator tube) and input shaft effects converter pressure, and thus efficiency. The oil in play can effect it too, to a small degree.
