Anyone running a Quarter Pro Shifter, whats your thoughts on it. I raced a friends car that had one and I liked it. The slim design is what I need and have a good deal on a used one. Only issue was that it seemed easy to drop down into low from high gear. | ||

Could be the mechanism in the shifter, the cable or the lever length (ratio) that makes it less effort to operate from another shifter. First thing I notice is a two piece keyed lever. The other is, at least it comes with a lever proprietary to the shifter and not a multi purpose lever, which will work with several different shifters. If I bought this shifter I'd buy a Quarter Pro lever from TSR most likely, for a guaranteed snug fit no slop in the rooster, one piece design. Looks good though. I like that it has a proprietary lever design. That's a good telltale sign. ![]() ![]() | |||

I have a quarter pro shifter. One thing I do not like is the lock lever. The handle section of the lock eventually brakes off. I have a 1/4 bolt instead of the handle now. Also where the lock is machined for the bolts to go through is thin and can brake. The way the shifter is mounted in my dragster it is the easiest. Big reason why Have not changed it. | |||

Have a quarter pro in my dragster, wife’s dragster has a quarter stick. I prefer the quarter pro because I can keep my hand on the shifter and just pull up on the lever to get reverse without even looking at it. On the quarter pro you have to reach down and hit the lockout switch. Both are fine I just prefer the quarter pro. So, the Quarter Pro you can pull up on the reverse lockout without taking your hand off the top of the shifter and the Quarter Stick you gotta take your hand off the top of the shifter to reach the reverse lockout, then get your hand back on the top of the shifter, to put it in reverse? I can see where one movement would be an added luxury bonus with a Quarter Pro. Looks like nice shifter. I know of a car that could use a Quarter Pro. I'll pass this info on. | |||

Correct. And that also means looking at the shifter to find the lockout instead of it just being able to feel it with your fingers. | |||

Nope, I'd invest in the Quarter Pro shift lever from TSR. It'll fit snug through the rooster inside the transmission. Everything they sell is hardcore race ready Made in USA. The Quarter Pro shifter has its own proprietary shift lever, unknowingly you definitely don't wanna put a three or four hole wing wong ching chong chinese garbage loose fitting multi-use shift lever with it. ![]() | |||

Ah ok, Ill have to wait and do this another time. Just put new Top Sportsman Tranny in the car and dont feel like doing all that. Thought it would be as easy as just hooking it up to the current lever on the trans. | |||

Just curious but lets say he just paid 5k for a Trans and it came with a universal lever. What you all are saying is that this level will not work in anyway? Even if it is a universal one? | |||

I'm looking at this Quarter Pro shift lever. There's a few indicator's which tells it is proprietary. 1. The Quarter Pro doesn't come with a multi purpose shift lever. 2. TSR lists this (pictured) lever specific the Quarter Pro shifter. 3. I've never seen a multi purpose shift lever with a hole as spread from the pivot, as the image included, which also indicates it's ease of operation (ratio). 4. The best shifter all times comes with a proprietary shift lever, Quarter Stick. Ya'll can do it however you please. I'd jam this shift lever in the transmission and call it perfect, in about 15 minutes. If it were mine. ![]() | |||

But the last thing ya wanna do is sizzle a perfectly innocent PG transmission over a less than perfect shift lever. | |||

I have used one for years with no issues. Works great. I have the older spring loaded solenoid model. The only issue I have seen with these is improper adjustment of the solenoid (not close enough to the shifter) will cause it not to shift the trans into high enough though the shifter activates to shift. | |||
