Dave it has been my experience that mounting at the rear rather than the front is best!LOL Mine are mounted high and extend just past the back of the slick. Mine are stroud spring launch. Always seems slow to open if I wait until the stripe. When I drove Denny's TD his Simpson chute seemed slow as well. I think when your traveling over 300 feet a second it just seems like a long time. Yeah Bruce, I rarely pull the chute at all on a long (1/4 mile) track. Most of these issues that have come up for me is the loss of 1/4 mile track out here...the closest track to me right now is 1/8 Barona.....And it's like an 1/8 with a 1/16 of shutdown lol... Someone one here suggested picking a spot and lifting early...I figured doing that pulling the chute early also will get me stopped before hitting the beach. Barona is still a 2-3 hour tow but better than nothing (or a 6-7 hour tow) . Dave F J B

Hi Mike....are you going to tell me Famoso is closer to me than Barona? It may very well be but Barona doesn't have the Grapevine to climb and Barona has a clear (and full) schedule posted. I plan to run the few bracket races Famoso is running this year but it looks like Barona has a lot more dates. Not to mention Famoso's pricing is a bit odd to say the least. IMHO of course.... . Have you ever been to Barona? Great place but not easy to get to and the Grapevine will look like a speed bump after one trip. Not sure what you find strange about Bakersfield entry but I hope to see you May 20th and 21st L8R, Mike

I've raced at Barona one time a few years ago....I could not stop in time there. I'm hoping "driving into the chute", reworking the parachute location, and lifting early if needed will get everything under control.... Apparently, there are 2 different roads up to the track and the one I used turns out to be the wrong/crazy/windy way. So hopefully the other route will be better. As far as Famoso's entry fees, if I'm reading the schedule page correctly, is $200 gate fee plus another $100 to build a purse for payouts. When I see a track charging unusual entries like that it throws up red flags to me. Why not just say it's $300 for the 2-day race and keep it simple? Also listing a payout structure would be nice, I understand they don't know how many cars are going to show up but list something so we can get an idea how the money will be spread out. None of this matters really because I'm going up there to race.....with a smile on my face !! The odd entry fee and whatever money can be won means very little to me.... It's kinda just the principle. . Dave F J B

Dave, it’s $300 for the weekend if you run the summit series however that’s not the only series running that weekend. So it’s $200 plus whatever you run like pro gas and I’m not sure of their entry fee. L8R, Mike

Kinda my point Mike.....I just want to run brackets...unclear what to expect at the gate....as I mentioned it doesn't really matter because I want/need to race so I'll bring a pocket full of cash and enjoy the weekend. . Dave F J B
