Wanting to replace the fuel hose on my car. I want a hose that is compatible with methanol. I've had stainless braided and now nylon braided both standard rubber type. What hose have you used? Can pushlock be used on a complete fuel line from back to front? Anyone use PTFE? How hard is it to put fittings on?

I have cloth braided hydraulic fluid hose from the tank to the belt-driven pump, and steel braided hose from the pump to the fuel log which is also made of steel braided hose. I haven’t changed any piece of it since I switched to alcohol in 2000. Tony Leonard

Another question for those that used PTFE, is there an inner diameter difference with PTFE compared to standard braided with rubber AN hoses?

I just replaced the 6an transmission lines with PTFE and had them made at a local racing parts shop. I chose their PTFE SS braided hose, with black pvc coating and had them install crimp on ends. They are much smaller OD and make tight bends easily with the same ID. When I replace the fuel lines I’m switching to PTFE.

PTFE and compatible fittings. Can do it in your own shop. I used Earls stuff. ![]() Configuration: 3350#, 582 C.I., 60 - 1.24 1/8 - 5.53@ 126MPH 1/4 - 8.73@ 159MPH ![]() 3700#+210lb driver, FULL interior, through mufflers, 10.5 tire. 60'-1.333 (IN 4000ft DA! I use Evil Energy PTFE hose for Alcohol and Transmission lines. It is easier to put ends on than standard stainless steel braided hoses and will last much better with alcohol and transmission fluid than standard hose. Get it on Amazon and it is not too expensive and good quality. What ever hose and brand you go with use same brand fittings. Often if you use one brand hose and different brand fittings they can be a real pain in the tail to assemble. I now use one brand (Evil Energy)for all my hoses and fittings. https://postimg.cc/gallery/np3zpruo/ "Dunning-Kruger Effect" -a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. I've seen the Evil Energy stuff, was concerned about quality since price is very good. Curly. what size hose did you use? How tight of a radius can you bend it, how flexible is it? My hose now comes out of the pump and then curves to run to the front so it's a 90* turn but room for a fairly large radius.

PTFE for the win. Inner diameter is larger than standard AN hose and the liner will last substantially longer. You do have to be care with bending it though, if the radius is too tight, it will kink it, and it's done at that point, but it takes quite a bit to get it there. It withstands heat way better than regular hose as well, and is rated for much higher pressures. I have some of the Evil Energy stuff on my car now, no complaints. I'm going with these guys this time with the new car, because they can get PTFE in -16. https://finishlinefactory.com I cut my hose with a die grinder and thin cutoff wheel. You need to clean the inside before you use it, just spray some brake clean down it and shoot a small wad of paper towel down the hose. That will get rid of the debris from cutting it and any dirt. I have some hoses like this from BMRS. It will bend a smaller radius than any other ptfe hose. https://bmrs.com/wp-content/up...e_catalog_lo-res.pdf

Alaskaracer, you say PTFE is larger then standard AN rubber lined? I thought it was smaller diameter.

That is the drawback to PTFE hose is you can not bend it as tight of radius. It is not quite as flexible as standard hose but you can of course bend it some. You should be alright. Hose size is is standard some brands may have a little variance from others but -6 is 3/8", -8 is 1/2", -10 is 5/8" etc. With all hose when you assemble them clean them good. I cut mine with radiac wheel and keep the cutting end down low. Then I blow it out with compressed air from other side after cutting and after each step. Then I will rinse it out with water and blow it out again. It is not too hard. https://postimg.cc/gallery/np3zpruo/ "Dunning-Kruger Effect" -a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. The outside diameter is smaller, the inside diameter is generally slightly larger. All of my ptfe hose that I have has a larger inside diameter than the same sized regular AN hose.
