The 3074S will also work on your car okay. I think the regular 3074 is a better choice though.

Alan I have 375 passes on this set of 18250 Hoosiers and I run 7.8 to 8.0 pounds. I do short burnouts and mostly foot breaking with some 6.0 index. 75% of those were 1.21-1.24 60’ with my bigger engine and the rest 1.24-1.27 with my slow engine.

Well I finally got out this year on the new MTs. Did my normal burn out and it left kinda soft and hopped a bit but overall not a terrible pass. Ran 8lbs of air.

I dropped a 1/4 pound of air and did a hard burn out on my second pass. Promptly broke the passenger axle and my rack and pinion ending up in the paint just passed 60’. Shake head

It shook so hard that it killed my main power which was probably a good thing. Gathered myself, turned my power back on and drove it to the trailer to figure out what went wrong because the axle wasn’t immediately apparent. The steering breaking threw me for a loop because once I stopped my steering wheel was upside down and until I got back to the trailer to figure it out that made zero sense. LOL

Wow! Usually MT tires are much softer on burnout and no tire shake.
Thank you for the report and hope you get it fixed quick. When you break an axle or steering it can get ugly quick.

Rusty, after sitting at the house thinking about it, when the car turned so hard right I was trying to steer left and it just broke some teeth off from the pressure.

Bruce I don’t think it was regular tire shake. There was a lot happening in a very short time. I was off the throttle at .42 seconds and it still put me in the paint. My very first thought from what I felt and where I ended up was that I sheared all the studs on that side.

Seems to me, if you broke the axle 1st, then the remaining tire would shake hard.

Well in no way was I blaming the tire for an old axle breaking. Just coming back to the tread and updating what happened.

When I swapped from GY, it was clearly slower on an optimum track. But, what made me happy was they were my secret weapon on bad tracks. I could confidently get down PBIR, in later rounds , on the dew wet track, when others could not. Definitely a great racing advantage. I probably had 10 sets over years of the same model. No matter what I tried, short of tubes, they lost air in the trailer over a few days. I just made a wood block for the rear center section and that kept it off the body when they went flat. The other little thing was, every other set had vibration issues, no matter who or how balanced them. MT was good about swapping them out. One of these sets I bought from the MT trailer at SGMP, so it was not the case that the other bad ones was from a bad source. Even with that, if they still make them like they did, I’d run them again as I like W lights.

I run the 14.5 x 32 @ 11.5 psi. When i went from hoosier to mt i had to stiffen my shocks a few clicks. I am with others on around 10psi on the 14. 32. At your weight. I get 300+ runs out of mine.

Blistering is usually caused by spinning the tires down track. That Hoosier tire is much larger than the bubba, did you every try the 3186 tire?

As for air leaks, I soap mine and have no issues with tires going flat. When I am done for the day I put about 8 or 9 pounds in them and put it in the trailer. I have no issues when the car sits in the trailer for 2 or 3 weeks, between the tires cooling and some air leaking from the sidewalls, I still have over 5 psi in the tires and I am sure 2 to 3 psi loss is due to just tire temp.

Why you had issues is a question, but the bottom line is both the Little and Big Bubba's rule in the dragster world! And it's not a monkey see, monkey do thing... there's a good reason why! Hell, even Ed has them on his dragster now! Wink

The With your weight I would say 8 vs 10 PSI to start with and adjust from there. If you can have someone video the rear tire at the hit, that will tell what direction to go in and also if you need to adjust the shocks etc. Otherwise let the time slip show you the way. Also sounds like you have a data recorded, if it has Accel then use that graph to guide you.
