maybe he is good with basic stuff but mine was a dual carb all aluminum 665 making 1440...after his carb mods I tourched 2 pistons and burnt up a head.
I wish he took my money and never sent me the carbs...would have been cheaper!!

Who are the most respected people to convert a carb to alky? I don't want to spend next year chasing my tail with a junk carb or system.

You might consider Dan Davinci. He races his car on alcohol running the 5.80 index stuff. Can't say I have ever heard anyone have an issue with his stuff although I'm sure there is someone. Nobody is perfect and you can't please everyone.

Ken Jones is my choice. he has done 4 for us and also fixed two carbs from a couple of other companies.

I can promise Dean Nickerson carbs are definitely top of the line for racing. There is alot more than just bolting on a carburetor and hoping for total success. His carburetors and quality of work are second to none. Same applies to racing fuel you can burn up on any fuel. It all comes down to the user period. You get what you pay for.

Still waiting on the credit union. You can bet he’s fighting not to give it back but a lot of the talking I done with him was through Facebook messanger and I’ve sent all of that to them alone with where he said he was putting the money back in my account after I told him to cancel my order and never did. What I’ve sent shows he never delivered my order and he can fight all he wants. I may never get my money back and I’ll deal with that. I gave him way more time than I had said after he kept saying he’d started the process to refund. I hate being an ass but told him I’d cost him a lot more in the long run by posting this and running business away from him than what he stole from me. I’m good either way as I know someday I’ll see him face to face

So far close to 5,000 views here and 1,200 on racing junk. I’m sure he or one of he’s boys have seen it and know he’s a thief and won’t even try to defend themselves. So in my mind if cost him 10X what he stole from me

Bolting on alky carbs on an engine that expesive without dyno time with your fuel system is definetly a gamble. I have been very pleased with my apd carb since Nickerson straightened it out for me. Wouldnt even idle when i got it. Im sure apd could have fixed it if i had been closer but to diagnose problems over the phone and ship carbs back and forth and test and retest is very impractical. I think a person should find someone in their area with a customer base and access to a dyno . Like ed used to say i aint got xxxx or done xxxx but Ive had my car on his chassis dyno twice, some of the best money ive spent. I wish i had taken my advice in the first place. Sometimes if we want to find the problem the first thing we need to do is look in the mirror.

Seems like all too many buy a specific brand carb (pick any of them) for good money, then send it of to someone else to get fixed when the carb was brand new?

Makes absolutely no sense to spend money with the second guy as the first company would almost always stand behind the new product sold.

Dyno? Last time Randy adjusted one of my carbs at the track it went faster...no dyno required...if I got a problem they go back to APD and no additional charges occur. I live in Texas and ship to Ohio...no big deal.

Seems like a waste of time and money to deal with someone else on a new product.

I now own 4 APD carbs (3 alky, 1 gas)...last I checked all these other carb guys that work on them never manufactured a carb...they only want to tell all of you how screwed up your new carb was when you bought it, then charge the crap out of you...NOT THIS GUY...EVER.

YES, I am a satisfied customer from APD with proof they got good stuff!

Dont really disagree with anything you say. Certainly would make it easier if you had multiple carbs to compare and substitute while you were sending it back. I know for a fact there are alot of satisfied customers with both these people but I think you shouldnt expect these things to go perfect every time. They all miss the tune sometimes. That is when if its someone in your area, or as you say someone you race with , its a good thing. As for the dyno , well like jenavet says you can burn pistons and such and it isnt always the carbs fault. All depends on how careful you want to be. Sorry i screwed this up and its not at the end of your post.

This thread is not about a carb that did not work properly, it is about a scumbag that took the OP's money and never delivered a product. I'd be telling the world about Craig Serra, what a POS he is, and it's a shame but his kids are very nice upstanding guys, I'm quite sure both Jeff and Sean and totally embarrassed by their Dad's actions. You can't pick your parents!!!

When I realized I wasn’t getting what I ordered he had posted some pictures on Facebook with a few twin blades he was suposedly putting together and I commented hope one of those is mine and another guy had put the same thing. I messaged the other guy and ask how long he’d been waiting. Said over a year and couldn’t get his money back either. You can only screw people so long until someone calls you out on social media. My main concern is letting people know how he does business and keeping someone else from getting scammed by him.
