They aren't allowed here and don't need it anyway. I have a tach. D1 is using buttons now anyway aren't they?

I'm sure that is for bottom bulbing. I've seen those and they are super cool for footbraking. You can set your idle kinda like a PTO on a wrecker. Really cool idea.

Yeah Mike I know what they are. You can't use them around here though.

You can't bring the idle up in bottom bulb? Most of the guys I know were setting up chokes to hit the fast idle cam.

Yes we can bring the rpm up as long as you do it with your foot. We were told though, no fast idle solenoids or any of the rpm set devices like Ed has.

I think ed means traditional tachometers and their size aren't necessary. I think he means racepak display is all you need. Might be mistaken, but if you have a racepak dash you have a tach. Those hand controllers are pretty slick. We are allowed to use the TB in Modified so I do. I do have a rpm module- shift light deal for footbrake but rarely have used it.

Don’t you reset/verify the throttle stop cruise RPM at the start of each event?

We were No-Box for a couple years but I stayed footbrake anyway. It gives me options to race anywhere. D4 voted to go back to footbrake and all the other divisions went No-Box.

If you have a racepak. You have a tachometer. I do not think you will find too many race cars without a means to monitor rpm in real time. Am I wrong??..

Never stated I don't have a tach, said they are useless today. we don't look at them because we don't need to and if the tach portion of my race pak dash shyt the bed, it doesn't effect our ability to make a run in any way.

No, Division 1 racer Dan Walleigh builds them, none better. Around $500. Sold mine last year to a long time poster here.

There is a guy from PA that makes and sells them also. He is a friend of mine on Facebook, although I don't know him personally. They aren't as nice looking as the Walleigh one but probably not the cost of one either.

Curtis
Dan Dissenger is what I found anyway, called PA performance on Facebook page. I haven't contacted him at all. It said 225. Obviously a little less sizzle but looks like plenty of steak. I have considered trying to footbrake more just because there is additional opportunities to race and I'm kind of use to leaving on the button. I wouldn't mind trying this as I dont practice enough on the footbrake.
I wonder what the best footbrake racers use in the country use. Be interested to know (Hastings etc). I know you have won several track championship but you dont have the option it sounds like. It wouldn't bother me if they outlawed two steps and TB where I race, but since its legal I choose to utilize it.

I was gonna say, use the tach for stall on stop. I know there are guys who set it and never change it. Some are dang tough racers too. I have gotten in the habit of checking it, maybe that’s why I can’t scatter s—-t with a rake.

You should probably just throw the tach away before you start running Super Comp with this Nova. You don’t need it.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

Curtis Reed, Yes I race top and bottom both. When I won Moroso many years ago I was leaving both on the other guys top and my own bottom. That was before cross talk and you could see both top lights. I had an open wheel car and people were watching my hands move from about 3 rd. on. Ike Hamma was there and then 2 years later he marketed the interfacer I believe 1991 when he started selling those. Charlie Hamma would know for sure.

The reason I asked is because you aren’t footbraking where the tach is needed.
