I purchased and decided to install a grid power module (7764) so I could data log engine temperature on a run.
I was trying to program it but could not get a couple things to work correctly. After rewiring it and tracing my wires many times, I could not get #3 Pink or #4 Yellow to work. I was ready to throw in the towel and rip it all out when I found the following.
MSD, are you kidding me? How could they screw up pinning the harness. At least it only took me a day to find it, lol. Who would have thought they could screw this up?
From someone who runs a production shop. It was assembled by a human. Humans make mistakes. Sucks but I haven't figured out how to idiot proof everything because they keep making better idiots. LOL Myself included from time to time.
I would expect a circuit QC check before it leaves, but it is possible that it was missed.

Being on the production side myself, anything is possible. Just figured this wouldn't make it thru quality control. I wonder how many more are like this.
I believe those that install MSD products frequently have experienced this type problem. Checking to see that all the pins are properly seated in the plug ends prior to install is wise.
When things don’t work, checking the wire pin out (listed in instructions) and metering between the wires ends can help lead to the cause. Although wires look attached to the pin, they might not be properly connected to have continuity.
