Axles are not gun drilled all the way to the bearing .... Strange that strange engineering doesn't recommend gun drilled axles for over 1200 hp lol but what was there recommendation on weight for a gun drilled axle ......????

Mine are tack welded and they came directly from Strange engineering that way

Rusty beat me to it but I agree that a full floater with the bigger gears is the only way to fly. I seriously considered switching to T/D from S/C but after talking with the engine builder I think I'll just stay where I'm at.

Remember guys, a lot of you are going WAY quicker than the Top Fuel cars of yesteryear.

If you watch that Tim McAmis video he explains that all the load on an axle is from the flange to the front of the bearing because it is unsupported. It looks like this is where this one broke.

You can also look into a "Live" axle assmy also.
This is a single axle setup. About 6800 for a dragster.Complete with CF 11" brakes if needed.

I would definitely recommend a floater and the Goethe shaft for those that can afford it. Mine have been flawless

No kidding.....I understand T/D is a second and a half quicker but it's still kinda crazy for shoe polish racing....
But racers are always going to be racers I guess...if fast is good, faster is better lol

the CV drive shaft system is pretty awesome. Something that is also cool is you can run most any 4-link setup you want and ride height without worrying about putting the drive shaft in a bind with a bad pinion angle

I believe the CV drive shaft system runs 1200ish

wonder when someone will start making carbon fiber drive shafts for dragsters

I would never guessed they would gun drill that far, you would think they would stop before the bearing

I am still not understanding why full floater is stronger. Looks like from here the brake caliper and wheel still bolt on to flange same as a flange type axle?
All of the torque from acceleration and stopping still goes through the flange of the axle correct?

-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.
