I’m in the market for a quality battery cable crimper. It needs to be able to crimp 8 gauge - 1 gauge cable. Thanks in advance.

Just look on Amazon for cable crimpers. They have lots of hydraulic crimpers that cover that range. $36 dollars for the first one I saw.

The Amazon reviews are all over the place. I was looking for a referral or first hand experience before I buy. Thanks.

I have one of the hydraulic ones, came from ebay I think. Harbor Freight carries them also. Crimps like you want it to and for as many crimps as I do a year it's worth it. If I was making cables every day for profit I'm sure there is a nicer, better, more expensive one to be had.

Are you looking for an industrial grade set to do repeated work? or hobby grade to do a set here and there?

I got one that you place assembly in and hit it with hammer. Works shockingly well and was cheap - look on amazon.

Hobby grade - but needs to be good quality - will be used for primary electrical connections through the car

First one I had was hydraulic, it leaked right from the start so I never used it.

Mine is exactly the same

I have This One and has been perfect for what I wanted/need. I like the one Big Steve posted as less expensive. Hydraulic is the way to go for sure.

Thanks all for the feedback. I ended up ordering a hydraulic crimper from TemCo. It was 1 of the few that I saw with AWG instead of metric dies that included 1 AWG wire.

I personnally like the manual crimpers over the hydraulics. because they leak and take longer to setup and use.
