I have never worked so hard, put in so many hours, as I have on this Super Stock engine. It's easy to see why an engine costs so much. It has to be a labor of love..
Headed to the dyno next Tuesday. I hope it's all worth it.

It’s easy to see why that class along with stock is dying, the cost and effort pale in comparison to the reward.

I also think the rules to allow aftermarket parts probably hurt the class. Especially for the older SS racers.
And thanks guys!

Agree but they had no choice, 50-60 year old blocks and virgin heads are near impossible to find.

Totally agree.
I love what I have going on with the GT car. I will admit a true Super Stock car is pretty bad a$$. At the end of the day all that cost to be legal and a $10.00 bottle of Geddex!

Definitely hurt the racers who have tons invested in their horde of legal parts, thinking they would always have value.

I don't mean to get up in your business, but I gotta ask. How many hours? How many days? How costly? I am fascinated with how much effort and money goes into class legal drag racing. Take care. Tom Worthington
If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

CURTIS REED
Tom, I think his intake alone has more hours than most bracket engines. LOL

One that runs a second under the index makes 670-690hp.

What's the index, if you don't mind sharing?

I had 100 hours in the heads and 100 hours in the manifold. I worked on it after business hours, normally 6-midnight, for a year. As far as cost, I stopped counting. But Patterson gets $47500 for the same engine.

D*mn. I actually thought the cost estimate would be much higher. Thanks and take care. Tom Worthington

I hope it falls into GT/FA and that index is 10.25. It would weight 2975 w/driver.

As with anything, I bet the first unit had much more in time and expense (basically impossible to calculate) to develop the formula build that works.

Well we had a good 2 days on the dyno. It turned out great. I don't want to say power but I have 46 more at 7500 than I had and way more average power.
