I got mine from Amazon, full copper conductor, not plated. I have both 4ga and 1ga. I prefer the 1ga. Also got 6ga for other stuff. Big thing is not to get actual battery cable but get welding cable. Much finer stranding, can carry a bit more current for a given size than regular cable, and WAY more flexible. I have sbc and use 2 gauge (welding) for both the starter and alternator sharing the starter feed back to the battery. Consider purchasing a small hydraulic crimper for the one hole lugs.

Depends on the length. Without data, you’re just another guy with an opinion.

length and amperage will dictate your minimum size. plenty of guides/charts online that will give you that info. You can usually get away with just throwing 0g or 1g wire at it(welding cable OR automotive). Welding cable is generally a higher strand count and thinner insulation which is more flexible for getting around tight corners and not degrading over time from bending a bunch. Down side is the insulation isn't necessarily rated for environment we put it in. Automotive cable will have less strands and usually a thicker insulation that is more resistant to heat, and harsh chemicals like fuel, but this means the cable will be harder to get through tight bends. If it was my car and I wasn't going to do the math for the min size. I would put automotive grade 0g wire in, CRIMP your cable ends on, do not solder them, the solder will break down overtime with vibration, then heat shrink with a shrink that has hot glue inside it. ------------------------------------------ "Any man can make mistakes, but only an idiot persist in his or her error." I used this on my S10. It is fine stranded and very soft/flexible. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M...d_asin_title_17&th=1 Clark
