I have a question, I put my car on jack stands in 2022 and now want to go racing again do you think the tires will be O.K. or should I replace them before I go racing again. | ||

If they are not dry rotted should be good as long as keep out of the weather. | |||

Quick story about tire life. Ran Hoosiers for many years. Car is 3200lbs and runs 1.2-.3 60fts. I would kill the sidewall of them and they would go away after about 60runs. Buddy of mine said I should try M/T and said he had a set he used to run. I offered to buy them from him and he said no I will just give to ya they are just in his shed taking up space. Next day I come out of the RV and they are just outside the door. (he lived nearby). Take them home mount them up and balance them. Head to the track the next weekend. To my surprise with no other changes the car is 2x as good for consistency. I ran them a good 60+x the and end out the season on them. Very pleased. Start the next season and again they good. probably another 40 passes and I am starting to wonder when these things are going to give up. Upcoming big money races I decide these things owe me nothing and I better get a new set before they die on me at the worst possible time. So I jump on Summit, jegs, general searches and nobody has this part number. NO finally found a tire that my car loves and they don't make them anymore. So I call the guy up that gave them to me. He is an engineer there at the tire factory that makes them. He says - oh they changed the part number. And then asks me to get him the date code. He deciphers it with a laugh and says dang I didn't realize those tires were that old. They were from 2006! We were in 2023! Got the new part numbered tires - which were exactly the same according to him. Car next outing was exactly the same as the old 2006 version. I run Mickeys on my dragster and if you knew how old they were and how many runs are on them you'd mess yourself......and they are still just as consistent as they were when I first installed them. There isn't much left of them now though, so they are getting replaced this winter. But they have sat for at least two years at one point, and spend the majority of the time now sitting in the trailer due to our short season and rainouts we've been having. I've heard both good and bad about Hoosier, no intention of giving them a shot, and you couldn't pay me to put Goodyears on my car... Don't be too quick to turn up your nose. Billy Glidden and WJ, for two, have made some pretty good money testing/developing. You could be next! For what it's worth, the old Goodyear plant in southern OK is now Michelin. I feel the same way about Goodyear. They like Fram let the market slip away from them.
