Flip a coin, both Afco and Penske will work well on the typical bracket dragster

Technically there is no Mullis Race Cars today. Brian did take it over and is/was a part of Mullis for about 20 years. Call Afco and speak with Eric Safell, not sure on the spelling of last name. Penske is another good option, Im just not a fan of the canister style shock, its another thing you have to check everyday. You could also send your shock to Matt Tinnin in the Nashville area or Ive been hearing good things about Shane Sweigart, hes a former tech at Penske. One of these options should be able to get the job done, and if you were happy with the way it was performing, I wouldnt want any "updated/new state of the art" shock.

Penske and don't look back.
I watched the quickest/fastest car on the property this past weekend, Travis Laster's procharged, 2019 Elite Chassis dragster aka Undercover swing arm car with 2 laid down Penske shocks, just like my car, hook on a 130 degree + track this weekend without issue! Saw him run as fast as 4.19 and as slow as 4.21.

The pro mod Shock specialists look at it from a whole different perspective.
The best damper is the damper which recovers quickest from 60 inches per second of shaft movement in the main body (tire shake).
That's the standard which they measure any given damper technology. Of course whichever recovers quickest also performs best with no tire shake.
Just so you know their perspective on this subject Ed.
Winning a race with shake is their holy grail, so to speak.

The difference between ignorance and stupidity. Ignorance is lack of knowledge. Stupidity is the inability to learn. Don't be stupid
I could go 1.22 - 1.23 on radials. Everyone picks up a bunch.

There's nothing magic about shocks. Find someone who understands what your doing and knows how to achieve it and anyone's "shock body" will work. They all work on pressure and valving. Then the operator needs to learn how to use the adjustments on their application.

LoL! I'm gonna skip that one ^^^
The reason ya gotta add gas periodically with a Penske, is because it is a high pressure design.
Both Penske and AFCO are high pressure systems, both leak.
With the difference being the Penske is high technology / has a separating piston in the cannister, and the AFCO low technology with a gas bag in the cannister.
I'd take a Penske over a Afco. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Mike Rietow,

Agreed 100%! no one doing what we do, no mind one running a 6 second shytbox, needs Ohlins.
Further, the Penske shocks on my dragster are now 7 years ago and the Afco shocks on my Firebird are now 17 years old and none have ever leaked!!
Further2, This past weekend on a nearly 140 degree track, my dragster went 1.060 60 foot 4x in a row!
Mickey has his head so far up his rectum for so long since hitting a foam block and being DQ'd that he has suffered permanent brain damage and is not fit to post here no mind drive a race car, hence the reason they have banned him and all his screen names from YB.

Edward, yours don't leak because you have low technology hydraulic shocks, not Penske-AFCO gas emulsion.
Try to keep up, we're talking high end high technology starting with WHOMPWHOMP Ohlin post.
