A friend of mine tried to drop off his convertor for repair was told it would be at least 3 weeks . What's up with that ?? He took the convertor to one of their competitors and was told it would be cut first thing in the AM

they're working on Ed's stuff. He had a miss and tried 72 convertors before he finally found one that worked.

I sent my ATI back to have it checked out a few weeks ago. I overnighted it to them and called 3 days after it got there and was told they just got it. I called back a week later and they said it was in line to be worked on. I told them FTI would have had it back in 2 days, he told me I should send it to FTI then lol. I may have asked for that but it was terrible customer service for sure, and we had a few words after that. My FTI converter is faster but the ATI is more consistent in my car, but they left a bad taste in my mouth for sure.

I was a loyal ATI customer and dealer (at Autofab) for years, they are 15 minutes from my house.

ATI stopped caring about their customers and local dealers years ago. Only thing they focus on now are Jegs and Summit. Good luck trying to get a hold of someone there on the phone or get something fixed. Customer service there is pathetic.

I had BTE make me a converter when they were all the rage. I stuck it in my hooptie and it was 1/2 second slower than my ATI treemaster. I had them re-do it, now it flashes to 6850 and shifts at 7200. Just junk. Convertor has 5 runs and it is the best $800 foot stool I have ever purchased.

I only deal with Greg or Dalton now at FTI. Not only are their products far superior in my opinion, it's the service after the sale that keeps me coming back. I sent them my ATI to cut open (nothing wrong with it at the time) I picked up .05-06 in the 60ft, .20 et and 2mph in the 1/8. I runner-ed up the first week out with it last year and the car has never been more consistent.

I believe none of the claims I read on these forums and half of what I see with my own eyes.

FACT...A friend of mine sent his ATI Treemaster converter to ATI 2 weeks ago and had it back 9 days later.

FACT...racing season has started, they are also the #1 converter used in Stock/Super Stock, they also provide the trans and converter for every COPO built, they're busy, I'm sure.

FACT...Few Super Stock cars 60 foot 1.17 no mind bracket door cars as mind does. I'll continue to run an ATI converter, deadly consistent and quicker/faster than the competition!

The times, they are a changing my friend. What once was the leader in aftermarket trans, converters and performance parts is slowly falling out of contention. They used to have excellent customer service but not any more.

It's fine to bury your head in the sand and only promote one manufacturer. Hard to have an opinion when you have nothing to compare.

With all due respect to Marco who built the trans in my dragster, his operation, his volume is fractional compared to ATI's.

That said, bracket racing/racers was never ATI's primary customer base, Class racers was/is and with bracket racing dying as well most bracket racers buying the cheapest junk, I'm sure they ain't worried. ATI is now operating out of a bigger facility.

This is painful, but he aint wrong on this comment.........

But, ATI's quality on cases has been slipping for the last couple years. The ones I get now, you can push the shift selector seal in with your fingers, and in turn, they blow the seals out and leak non stop.

I can't speak of their cases from first hand experience but I know several that run them and haven't heard 1 complaint and again, they are in every COPO.

BTW, ATI also posts over $500,000 in contingency cash every year!!

Not to mention they are in the wrong spot, too far forward. It makes the damn shift plunger too short to engage the park paw properly. Oh, they sell a longer park paw but that doesn't fix the problem. Seen several with this same problem over the years. Most carry a block of wood to chock the tires in the lanes, lol.

That tells me all I would need to know if considering one of their converters as a bracket racer. I have had no problems with them and do like their dampers but when their biggest cheerleader makes that statement it is telling. This isn't class racer and those guys are a funny group as a whole when it comes to what they run.

It must be true, because I read it on an internet forum.

Meanwhile, I'll be at the Maple Grove Divisional next week, the stock lanes will be full of COPO Camaros as will the lanes for the Factory Shootout cars and all have ATI turbo 400s getting the power to the slicks and not one will have a block of wood chocking the tires in the lanes. Roll Eyes

its so weird how some of their stuff works so well and others stuff is a nightmare.
remember my nightmare with my powerglide bell it was off center and burring out the snout of my converter and wrecking front pumps??
dave cain blamed my block, and then after it still did it on a second block I had to beg them to send me another bell which I ended up paying for a used one from rod at ati

problem solved!! that misaligned bell cost me a fortune in parts.dave cain always blamed me for everything
