I'm questioning why I scheduled (Sept.) hub dyno testing for our ProCharged Camaro. This combo has 300+ runs of testing & tuning, most of it done while racing. Other than getting the HP/Torque peaks & a baseline of what power I have now, what am I going to gain? The engine has been data logged during our runs & have plenty of tuning data. I don't really need any more power for our bracket program. The tuner/dyno guy wants more power of course out of the testing! What do you guys think, should I give in & go for more power? I'm only spinning the blower around 66,000 rpm & I have a slightly smaller pulley to spin it to around 68,000 rpm. Well below the max. of 74,000 rpm of the blower. 2BKING ![]() ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3000 lbs. Pump Gas 436

Unless you want to make your tune up maybe a bit more efficient and possibly make a little more power, you have already answered your own question. Its your money

Sounds like a waste of time, money, and duty cycles. But, dyno guy needs to make the register ring.... "Despite the high cost of living, it remains popular." Dave Cook N375

There is a mystic about a dyno. It would quantify what you have already qualified. If that's of interest then go for it! Illegitimi non carborundum

I had 5 years of data on mine when I went this year and still feel it was a good trip… it wasn’t about gaining more power for me tho J.R. You can learn more in one day on a dyno than you can in 6 months at the track even with good data logger. So for most people I say dyno but since you have 300+ runs with good data I do not know how much it is worth to you. Diminishing returns on the investment. https://postimg.cc/gallery/np3zpruo/ "Dunning-Kruger Effect" -a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. Big Steve started with a good point, efficiency. I think I have some room here to improve. If I happen to pick up power, so be it but that's not what I'm after. I'm sure I'm going to learn some more about my set-up. We are going to test blending in more ethanol into our base fuel 100 UL. It will require some more fuel/change in tune. This is primarily to lower the MATs. 2BKING is not rich, nor poor but I live very well; it's only cash! ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3000 lbs. That’s what i was after was to clean it up, ended up with safer spark plugs and 32 more hp… J.R. Sunoco 260 GT, street legal 100 octane UL is our base fuel. We have a pretty good tune with this fuel & will baseline with it. Our plan is to do another tune using 45% ethanol in our base fuel that already has 10%. The mix should be 2 gal. of E98 to 3 gal. of 260 GT. I do have a tester to verify the mix. Wallace Racing had a nice calculator to figure this out. We'll see what we learn from this deal. 2BKING ![]() ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3000 lbs. Pump Gas 436

The dyno data may be what is needed to better dial in converter stall, final drive gear, and tire height. Don’t give up chasing a better combo just yet.. Mike Allred

Went to the track yesterday to buy X98 ethanol that they said was in stock but wasn't when I arrived. Plan B, I bought MS109. While this is not going to lower MAT, it will allow me to add more timing & hopefully more power. Our goals have changed with our racing & this dyno session. We are hoping to add some more index racing in our schedule. We ran 6.0 last weekend & had plenty of power. We have a 5.80 index in Nov. & while I have power to run under, I would like to be under by more. Hopefully we can find 50-100 hp without adding more boost. Plus, I don't have a smaller pulley at this time to do that. 2BKING ![]() ![]() 1980 Camaro Taking the Best Working Small Tire Shyt Box & making it Greater Than Before! 3000 lbs. Pump Gas 436
