Flexplate on backward, by chance? I’ve done it in the embarrassingly recent past.

Is this a new issue on a previously running engine? If so, check crankshaft thrust. If not take a look at Tony's ^^ suggestion.

Look for run out if I am understanding correctly. TCI's cheaper plates are imported.

Stamped steel flexplates can have a lot of run out from batch to batch.
Meziere Tech. Make sure your water pump is on whenever you check your coolant level.

Is it radially or axially that it’s hitting?
