Finally got the motor back together and took the car out (had been sitting for 3 Months). First 2 passes seemed kind of flat and like the power was down. It was 2 tenths slower than what it should have been. Pulled the valve covers and re checked all vales etc. (no issues).. Made another pass and it picked up right where it should have been then the rain came. The next day the first pass was in check with the pass the previous day. First round about 50ft out it had what felt like a bang and something unloaded because it shot the RPMs up and the shifter shifted to high. Checked it on the return road and didn't hear anything and it felt fine. Buy back for second round and it left lazy and seemed like it was running into a 1000mph head wind. Motor seems fine all valves look good and sounds good. Converter is spragless and fluid looks ok. Unfortunately my recorder did not record but I was able to grab some info off the grid. It looks just like it feels, flat. With those 2 good passes and motor looking and sounding good my only focus is the converter.

What does the trans fluid look like? Seems if that was a motor issue it would be noticeable in the burnout or right at the hit.

Sure sounds like converter to me. Had same issue when mine went, felt flat & lazy on TT1. Couldn't find anything wrong with engine, and TT2 went back to where it should have run. Then Rd 1 it was a dog. Sent converter in, went through trans, all looked good, and with the freshened converter it was back to 100% Dan "Jim" Moore Much too young to feel this damn old!!
