I race in temps over 100* here in Texas and yes it is brutal at times. I have one of those cool vests and they do little if any good. Do not even waste my time with it now. I just try to stay inside my trailer and maybe have a fan nearby. I have measured 113* air temp and 150* track temperatures on race day. I look at it like we are in it together and we deal with as best we can. It is tough on everyone so you just put it out of your mind as much as possible and get it done. We can always find an excuse not to race. Too hot, too cold, chance of rain, too far to tow but in the end it is fun to get out there and compete. And yes it was easier when we were younger but we made it and we deal with it. Hang in there and do not let it bother you.

I try to race as little as possible in the summer down here...it is regularly 95* with 90% humidity...you can hardly breath...track temps are over 150* at all times...we race all year though so taking july and august off is no biggie...from November to april it does not get any better for racing down this way...
This year I believe when it hits 103-105 I'll probably be out. My cool vest is the type that runs water through the tubing and I'm actually pretty good when strapped in. Overall it just beats me down too much now though.

Last weekend we started right a 99 degrees at 7 pm , once the sun is down feels alright! This coming Saturday weather reading at 116 at gate time should cool down to 109 at first hit. I will probably not take the first time hit as it's a waste of fuel. By the time we do second hit the adjusted will change by 1,200 to 1,400 feet over first hit . I rather just take the second hit and go straight into elimanations, after all it's not like it's a new combo got plenty of info...

6-8 years ago, me and old **** buddy! Haul from St Louis to Holly Springs, to race on Thanksgiving. We arrive one day early, nice weather, probably 60F.Get set up, wake up its 40F. My home brewed old school Pontiac went 6.04 out the box. Right where I expected. Watched 15-20 cars try to get down the track, didn't happen. I'm talking about cars from 6.50 to 5.00. I seemed to have only car that worked. Race was cancelled! load up, drive 6 hours home to at least get leftover turkey. Not saying I had anything special, but that old car would hook in a mud puddle! I am not going to drop names, but there were some hitters on the property. Fact I lost $200 playing poker in a prominate dragster manufacturers otter home. Long story short, I have raced in 35F weather, on alky. Pretty much just left the car in park at an idle!!

Last saturday was hot enough for me!! Years ago it didn't bother me at all, now...it gets difficult at times.Water, poweraid, staying in the trailer chillin' as much as possible helps. We won't have any more daytime races until September, at least that I'm going to anyway. So..for me mid-hi 90s and our typical 80-95% humidity is my limit. Night races are much easier. Built a cooler out of an ice chest that uses frozen 2 liter bottles, water, an old heater core, a small 12v pump and a fan, but haven't used it yet- got to figure out a good way to mount it without running foul of a tech inspector..

Hot temps is not an issue for us, we regularly race in 90+ degree heat in June, July and August with 75%+ humidity with track temps of 130+. Cold temps is my issue and I will not put my cars on cold tracks early and late in the season where once the sun goes down, air temp is below 50 degrees.
Ever since the early 80's when i was Kart racing at one of the WKA events things have never been the same. Got profusely sick. Not too aware of my surroundings Called it off after 2nd test. For years after that i was fine. Got overheated again in the rack sitting in staging. Get me out of this car. Heat intolerance is now an issue. I have never been a fan of wearing a hat with a chrome dome was my first issue. Dummy me.

I never had a problem with the heat, until I had a problem at the track. Was sitting in the car ready to go make a run, a few pairs back. Next thing I knew I was sitting on the ground in the staging lanes next to my car with people all hovering around me feeding me water and putting cold rags on my head. Haven't been able to take the heat since then.
I put an indoor outdoor thermometer in my car a couple years ago. (Black car with black interior) On hot days (90+), I have seen as high as 147 degrees inside the car (with the windows rolled down to boot)
