Thinking of getting a newer delay box for my car. Right now I run a DD Mega 400. Nothing wrong with it and it works perfectly. But I'm thinking of upgrading. Looking at the DD mega 450/475 and the K&R stuff.

If YOU were going to put a new delay box in your car, regardless of your reason, which new box would you choose and why? What is the biggest factor in your decision?

Don't want to hear if it's working don't change it....One of the features of the new boxes I really like is the Z-force feature on the K&R and similar on the new Mega boxes.....That's one of the reasons I'm looking to change..

All input is welcome...

Installed both, ran both. All personal preference IMO. I prefer the DD, but my buddy prefers a K&R. If you have a DD now, i would stay with a DD as you will be able to set it up and use it easily IMO. Let me know if you need pricing on either.

If it was a dragster my choice would be Mega 475 or Elite 625 if using the DD V2 dial board. And I’d want the display to be Green back lighting. More features (to include rpm) than K&R.

If door car (which I have) that runs both top and bottom bulb It’d be the Elite 95, green back lighting and of course Grid that controls anything a delay box does after the TB solenoid is released.

There is an Elite 600 on Drag Race Results classifieds on Facebook. $475 if that’s a good price

The K&R unit is very nice, I went from a digital delay 400 to a pro cube. Both very nice units, customer service with Kevin and the small packaging of the pro cube made my decision.

I have a 450 and thinking of going to 500 so I can bump up and down. 450 only lets you do one or the other not both.

I have the DD625 and like the ease of wiring and the digital dial board feature. If I were just getting a replacement for the 400,the 450 would be my choice. Just switch the wires and go.

^^^^^^^ 625 with DualView Display w/ Tail light feature for a Dragster.

IMHO if upgrading don't go halfway.

There is a new version of the 450, V3 that lets you do both. I can find out if DD can update your box to it or not.

That would be nice if it could be updated.

I really like Digital Delay’s replay tach feature available on most of their boxes.

I've used a 450 for quite some time. I plan on upgrading in the future to a elite 625. I like the external relay board to clean up the wiring. I hate the bundle of wiring going to the delay box. Also the 625 has a dedicated output for SLE if you want to use it. The 450 and the new 475 your limited to doing one function with the sfo. That being said the 475 has alot of the same features as the 625 and would be an easy upgrade from a 450. For me its the 625 and a wiring clean up at the same time.

I have both. The car K&R in my S/ST, and the 450 in my bracket car. I prefer the K&R because it is much simpler to operate.

I only have experience with K&R and I like their size and ease to make adjustments at last moment. And Kevin is such a great guy as when I had my trailer fire he chose to help me out without asking and has always been available for any questions I had. I meet him at The Million last year and my dog liked him so that proves he's a good guy.

I have always ran Digital delay but i am currently building a new car and i bought the new K&R switch panel and relay board from Kevin and a few week ago he called me to tell me that there was an issue with some of the relays on a few of the boards and he wanted to be proactive and call his customers that had bought the boards to make sure they have not had any issues,He told me that a few of the boards had the wrong size relays, Long story short he did not have to call and ask me that he could of just waited until his customers had problems and when a man does that this tells me exactly where his heart is and as long as i can buy from someone like that then he will always have my business.

I started with a DD then tried the K&R. K&R is my choice hands down. Easier to operate than my DD. My K&R also feeds my dial board, I love the Z-Force option, but both seem to have that now. As far as customer service, I've experienced both makers. Kevin at K&R in my opinion is the best. He has always taken great care of me and most times I get same day turnaround. Not to mention he has fixed some of my problem at no charge. He just seems to always go the extra mile every time I need him. Both are good boxes but the K&R has a smaller footprint in you dash or console where ever you put it. It also has a reset button that if I get something activated early I can hit it and all is ready again in less than a second. If you've never tried one get one and try it if you don't like it sell it it'll go really fast as they are quite popular.

If you used a MSD Grid ignition you would not need to look for a reset button on a delay box.
