Changing to alky and some people have told me PTFE is the ONLY way because alcohol will eat rubber EVENTUALLY. On the other hand, I have a friend that has used the braided rubber for many years without problems. He also puts in a top lube for each 5 gallons of alky. If I change to PTFE I'll need to buy all new fittings because the braided steel stuff will not work with PTFE. Any advice appreciated. Thanks. | ||

There isn’t a better way to go than PTFE. WITH That said I couldn’t tell you how old my ss braided rubber fuel line is, it came on the car. I have been using it with alcohol since 2005. I have considered changing over to PTFE also but I keep finding other things to spend the money on. It is hard to say I have used several different brands of stainless braided rubber hose. Some lasted for many years with no problems others were crumbling in one year. I THINK the Russel hose was good. When ever I see any signs of problem I replace it all. I have had some of the rubber hoses on various cars for decades on akky and no issues. I have recently started using ptfe for just about everything. It seems to be so much more forgiving and faster for assembly. Easy to get right every time. I'm sold on it now. I think you need ptfe for brake lines, but not diy because of the pressure level required. Foxtrot Juliet Bravo | |||

I'm kinda along with Curly on this one. I build my cars with SS - it's what I know and to me it's easy stuff to work. I prefer brand name hose but fittings can come from anywhere except if they are swivel then I prefer brand names. I go about 10 years, then all the hose goes in the trash can - good or bad. | |||

I went with all ptfe fuel lines and trans cooler lines. I got the hose and fittings from https://ormebrothers.com/. Not sure if they still offer this deal, but I told him I was a member on DRR got 30% off. It looks like quality stuff to me. Fittings are deep anodized to make them better for alcohol use. | |||

Teflon for the win. However lots of rubber being used out there. If you have a rubber hose off for some reason and you find that it is now stiff and molded into a shape you may want to consider a replacement.
