On regular alky I am in the 1100s at the 1/8 mile stripe.

I have ran EGT and have ran 8-O2. With the EGT it was not reliable information and did not always do as it was supposed to. Sometimes you fatten it up and EGT goes up, sometimes it goes down. Was told to get 1050* in 1/8 mile and 1100* in 1/4 mile. On that motor it was stupid fat at 1100*. Ran best at 1350* (1/8) and 1400* (1/4) Do not remember what difference was with M5 as I now consider EGT useless information and not reliable. I ended up Dyno motor and got good tune up then what ever the EGT numbers were is my target number. By the way that was with mechanical injection a carb does not work same with Nitro or M5 and needs to be fattened up.

Went to 2-O2 and got reliable, repeatable information so soon went to 8-O2 and threw away EGT. I would also add that with the O2 my target number was same with alcohol and small percentages of Nitro. I used Gas scale and was shooting for 12.9-13.1 for perfect tune up. On that motor 5% was good for .10-.12 in 1/8 mile if I remember right. My experiences with carb and low percent Nitro was not very good so did not test much.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

I know EGTs can be a crap shoot. My engine has always worked good around 1100 or so EGT on Alky. Yesterday I was around that on M5. Its probably close. I did drop a pill size from alky to be safe. Its pretty easy for me. Switch fuel, change pill, fatten the barrel valve a few flats and run .07 quicker. Couple guys came over to trailer to asked me what I done to pick up.....Showed them the M5 can lol.

It is amazing how many people watch what you are doing at the track. They knew I did something.

tune for time slip, and let the egts fall where they may is the best peace of advice i can give you. When you get it right, you SHOULD be able to add some timing to it as well.
