Where is the best place on 598 to tap in for a vacuum gauge and or racepak ??? Thanks jjj

I bought the thick aluminum fuel pump block off plate from Moroso and tapped it for a 1/4” quick release air fitting. Out of the way, never need to mess with it as you would if it were in the valve cover.

I would not use the fuel pump block off plate. The best place really depends on the end users preference more than anything. The valve cover and back of the head works fine but IMO can be in the way, plus you need to disconnect it from the valve cover every time you adjust your valves. IMO the best way to install one is in the intake valley cover section, use a barbed small rubber hose fitting and run it down to where ever you mount the transducer. These should not be hard mounted to the motor, if you do they will fail prematurely due to vibrations.

I was going to add my vacuum fitting to the back of the valve cover. Small fitting easy enough to remove. The intake is a nice idea too. Really out of the way on the intake.

Thats where I always had mine. I would just drill and tap 1/8 npt in the intake valley next to the distributor. Just seems like a good place

Only reason I'd stay away from that is it could be to close to the crank case, pistons moving up and down could create a graph of peaks and valleys. I have seen a vac graph as I described but can't say it was due to this or the fact that the sensor was directly mounted on the block off plate. If you see no issues then your good!

that's where mine is, and I've installed many others there also. Never seen any issue

On my Front Engine Dragster I put it on the the valve cover.
On my new Altered I am going to put it on fuel pump plate because I think it is a cleaner look.

My vacuum pump hooks up to valve cover so have to take one off which means unhooking something from the other side is no big deal. My valve covers already had h0les for header evac system I used to run so I just bolted fitting in for pump in both covers then drilled and tapped a plug for vacuum line to hook up to. It isn’t the prettiest but it ain’t ugly either and I am racing not going to car shows.

The fuel pump block-off works great. The only drawback is, I forget to unhook it every time I pull the engine, and test the tensile strength of the hose.

I think the OP was asking about where to put the sensor hose for the Data logger. Sounds like you are talking about the main hose for the vacuum pump which is where most of us put it.

You're right, I missed that. I have mine in the lifter valley, bottom of the intake
