Steering U Joints ?

What quality brand steering U joints (from whom) are you using in this size, 3/4” smooth bore? I’m limited to this size because of clearance.

I bought mine from Speedway. Quality was fine and prices ok. Alston, McAmis, Morrison, sells them as well.

I'd use these. That's what I've purchased to redo the prostocker.

Are those still a pin and knuckle inside the boot?

I had plenty of room so I used the bearing style.

Funny thing (maybe NOT funny) happened to the steering U-joint in my car. A small rock kicked up and got jammed in the joint. It allowed me to turn to the left just not to the right. All of the turns from my trailer through the stagging lanes are left hand turns but when I tried to pull into the water box it locked up. We had to use a floor jack to get the car back to the trailer.

From that day on I have wrapped a plastic bag over the joint to prevent it from happening again. Sometimes it's the little shyte that wrecks you.

The enclosed U-Joint is the only one I'll ever
use.

The more I looked at this limited size u-joint needed to clear header (it’s at 42*) that is pin not bearing I thought something else might work. I think I’ll try extending the main steering rod by 1.25” to get clear of the header pipe obstruction and install a double u joint. The double will allow up to 80* (40* a side) to get the rod to the R+P attached. I would have to add a heim support for that rod also.
