I have been using the Fram HP4 for many years, but they seem to be out of business. What is everyone using for a average 700 hp SBC?

I run a system one. Advantage is you can easily clean and inspect it and don't have to buy another one. Expensive at first but pays for itself in the long run. Some will say they are not as effective as a paper element at filtering, but mine goes to 30 microns where most racing and performance filters only go to 60 microns. There is another filter similar to the system one but I can't remember it right off hand, but also a very high quality filter. If you just want an average filter, K&N makes a very good one. Wix used to but I don't know anymore as they are not the same filters they once were. I'm sure I'm missing some but I can't think of the others off the top of my head. It's late here and I'm pretty tired. Mark Goulette Owner/Driver of the Livin' The Dream Racing dragster www.livinthedreamracing.com "Speed kills but it's better than going slow!" Wix filters are good. I prefer to run 2 of the very large truck filters in parallel so all the oil has to run through one filter only. Like the Fram PH 373, The Wix 51794 or 51794MP, or the Baldwin B7. Why? The large street type filters catch the smaller particles of trash. If you used a single small filter it would clog quickly and may not even flow enough oil for the RPM. The dual filter mount with the large filters give you maybe 6 times more surface area and oil for little restriction and still removes all small particles. Note: all of my blocks are aftermarket that require remote oil filters. On a standard block mounted oil filter you may not have room for the tall filter. If you use a single small filter then you will have to run the Wix racing filter like the 51060 but they do not remove the smaller particles. They are designed to let smaller stuff get through so oil flow is not restricted. https://postimg.cc/gallery/np3zpruo/ "Dunning-Kruger Effect" -a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. Why in the world would someone need 2 of the large filters on a drag car? I have never had a filter plug up and could probably run without a filter after the initial break in. Maybe because I always run an air filter I don't have the same problems you do, I don't know. That's just wild to me.

Been running a system one for 15 years and haven't bought an oil filter or had to dispose of one in that same amount of time. I use a 45 micron screen and also run the bypass block off plate. Just dont believe in a filter bypass on a race car, one they could open when they shouldn't and two if your filter is so plugged up that you need to open a bypass, your engine is already junk

WIX street filter, if you worry about flow and and want a larger micron rating use the WIX racing version. If you worry about your filter cleaning up your oil you might have other problems. I care the filter doesn't blow off the car and it catches pieces I can see when I cut it open at oil change time.

Old **** hard toi get to change, Oberg on cxar, Run smallest they have forget the micron, Have been running them for 40 years, I have 2, I pull lone pur other in and clean later. I am sure not popular with lots here and may not catch smallest of all particles but does catch lot and can check to see if rod shavings norm with aluminum rods or if something to worry about. Maybe same as someone saud similar to system one but could not remember names of. America home of free. Brought to you by 2nd amendment.
