What's the con's to crossing the straps? I never heard of any. I agree with Ed, both front and rear on a door car. And if I had a door car that the driver's door didn't come off or you couldn't open the door enough so you can put in park, I'd figure a way to do it! | |||

I have no personal cons to offer up about crossing them but what I read on the Facebook post 442OLDS referenced it seemed people were ready to fight about whether you should cross them or not. From what I read on there. I agree on crossed and in park after tie down. I was shocked how many don't put car in park. Gotta be pretty skinny to get inside my car after loaded and strapped as the door does not come off and windows don't roll down. Cory can slide thru door jamb against fender well at 140 lbs, I can not at 205 lbs. Typically will get Cory or JR kid to slide in car to get it in or out of park. Thinking of raising car one inch to get door past wheel well inside trailer. Had an incident 15 years back where I didn't have TS car in park...car fell off lift on top of my golf cart..chit show to say the least. | |||

I would advise for those with fixed door windows that can’t reach into the car once loaded, to chock all 4 tires with chocks that have a pin that drops into the floor. | |||

Rear strapping location question for those that have door car and crisscross. Are you strapping from rear frame to floor or around third member to floor? Pulling backwards or straight down if going to frame? | |||

Absolutely in park. I have seen some straps come loose for one reason or another. Have seen where many had the tie down rings in trailer backwards which really weakens them. You do not want the straps at too much of an angle or they lose a lot of strength. Have seen some tie down rings that were not mounted securely to the frame. The whole thing is only as strong as the WEAKEST link. With my Front Engine Dragster I made a ramp and front tires drop down in a slot or pocket where it gets tied down and that helps keep it from moving around to. I always used an air bladder under it. Tow in Park, yes. Those with lexan windows simply lift the door off and make a wall hanger for the door. Very simple. | |||

in park if possible and i cross the straps but i did see a article on tying down and when crossing the straps if one comes loose the strap left holding can possibly pull the vehicle in that direction but with the straps inline with the chassis the pulling force is straight not at a angle and the car will not be pulled sideways. | |||

It don't matter, it's tied down with several backup tie downs. I think if any door car did hypothetically exit the trailer, it would be less likely to end up on its roof, if in park, steering wheel locked. Mine starts with a factory key, factory steering lock, and I can roll the window down to put it in park, so I'm good on both accounts. | |||

Yes in park and cross tied in the back, Front normaly gets tried down straight because im lazy. Meziere Tech. Make sure your water pump is on whenever you check your coolant level. | |||
