Just wanted to say, I knew most of this before even departing for this race at Good times Drag Strip in Winnemucca, NV. The outlaw track is run by a non-profit organization. It's 4,600' ASL (DA was 6900' or above), the track was constructed around 2007 & is all asphalt, except the burnout box. From what I saw the track gets a light spray of glue once per day & gets dragged once or twice a day.

My #1 goal was to have a good time & I succeeded with icing on the cake!

My 1st run on the track was a 6.291 & I should have pulled the chute at 400'; this was a time shot for the 6.00 index class. My 2nd hit was a 5.951 & that was what my app was predicting. In eliminations I ran (1) 5.977 when my opponent went red & the rest of the runs were low 6.0s. My reaction times were better than all opponents I ran.

As mentioned in another post, I won the 6.0 index class & the icing on the cake was the pay-out; it was much bigger than the trophy! It was a midget trophy but I didn't really care.

The next day bracket race was run in the middle of the day. My 1st run was a 5.988 & the rest of the passes were low 6s. The car was spinning the tires at the hit. I had a launch retard activated but I was a retard for not killing more power with it. I went out in the 2nd round after a buyback round.

I plan to go back next year to support the track if my racing schedule allows it. I had a great time & was a driving fool on the track!

Heading back to this track in June for a 6.0 Index race & bracket racing. I hope to be a little better prepared for the asphalt & lack of prep. While I did good last year, I want to improve on my daytime set-up for the track. My nighttime set up was decent & was only able to run mid 1.40 60's. During the daytime they were in the 1.60s with early wheel spin. While we were on radials, we were no better or worse than people using bias ply slicks.

Last year we used the M/T PBRs but this year we'll be on our Hoosier radials either the DR3 DOT 275/60-15 or the 30x9 C30s. The Hoosiers are a softer compound & supposed to work better on asphalt/no-prep conditions than the M/Ts.

We'll be adding about 50 lbs. of ballast. Some will be where the 5mph bumper use to reside & some over the rear axle. The Hoosier DOT radials are 42 lbs. ea. mounted on rims vs. the 30x9 radials at 35 lbs. ea. mounted. Probably go with the DOTs with the heavier weight.

I'll be killing power with a short launch retard & will target a 1.5 range 60's. Plus, tighten up the rear shock extension to soften the hit to the tire.

I know this is outside your you all's wheelhouse & mine! Do you have any other suggestions I might have forgotten?

The main goal again is to have FUN & 2nd to be better prepared this year than last. The wife & I are getting to Winnemucca a day early to stay in town & check it out. The rest of the weekend we will be staying at the track.

Below is the satellite view of the track. Nothing special & it's what I call a Podunk track. I have the most fun at these types of tracks & usually do well.
