Anyone try a Blower on a 20 Degree Head yet?

Thinking about a TBS 250 on top of my 20 degree 615. Not a big fan of that much cubic inch so I will likely drop down to 598/582/565, but the real question is anyone running a blower with the 20 degree heads? My combo would be injected on methanol.

I've got one of the TBS 250's on my son's 598 with Dart Pro 2 380's, Enderle hat, seems to work pretty well.

Thanks,

Kris

There is a guy up here that bolted one on a 632 SR 20 engine with 16-1 compression. We are waiting to see the results.....

I believe Scoggins and ****ey did a few motors like that but I believe they went back to the BB3's. I know a few that tried it and the results were good for eating up engines. Probably the same reason you don't see many on 18 or 12 degree motors.

Ran my 12° 540 pretty hard with a 14-71 with no issues, as with any blown motor keeping up with the tune-up is essential especially when the boost goes up...........otherwise a sacrifice to the aluminum Gods will be made

That probably won't turn out so good with that much compression, unless it's real low boost.

He seems to think 10 lb of boost will be OK. Shake head

That's because it's not a good idea! That chamber deal is great NA and with small NOS shots but once you step over the line it's to sensitive and you will hurt pistons if you make any kind of boosted power.

Top 38, i agree that's the narrative, but the question is does anyone have any experience in that space. I burned the piston on my 20 degree 615, but i'm convinced it was because the water wasn't circulating in the motor on dyno day 1, never found any other smoking gun, just more of the narrative that Methanol and Injection won't work on a 20 degree motor. Dyno day 2 we beat the tar out of it for 30 pulls timing all over the place fuel up fuel down and its running fine today.

Where i was hoping to get with the discussion, was is there anyone out there "SOFTENING" their 20 degree heads, I heard stories of this and it sounded promising under moderate to heavy nitrous (400+) use. If so, who is doing the "softening" work for these folks?

I'm not kidding myself thinking that 16:1 and a 615 is a good blower motor, i won't try that, at a minimum I'm going to swap pistons to something with a more robust ring package and get the compression down around 13.0:1, that's not that big of a deal.

The softening the combustion chamber deal is a no return proposition and one i'm scared to do without some more education on the benefits/downsides.

I talked to the guys at Alky Diggers last year about a 250 blower. He said my 588 could make 12-14 psi with the right pulley combo. Not that I wanted to run that much.
