I've used the old style tool for years,the type with the bar that clamps the line and the yoke goes over it with the flare adapters. Works fine on the bench but hard in tight places on a vehicle. I don't want to invest in a hydraulic style, just a simple tool for occasional use. A Eastwood you'd use in a vise, the OP mentions in his post he needs a flare tool he can double flare tubing, which is on the car. Granted, Eastwood is the Cadillac bench vise flare tool. | |||

This is the old style KD, I found dyes for it on Amazon,it'll get the job done on the car. I've got a Eastwood as well, for bench vise work. I'd buy the new style KD flare tool, If I bought a new one for on the car work. KD been in the biz awhile.  | |||

No stainless in my future, I found NiCop and that works for me. If I was back to working as a full time tech I'd buy the $300 one and not blink an eye. Those days are over, I'm looking for a simple tool for double flaring on daily drivers that I work on for my family and a race car here and there. I'm really disappointed about the grease. Are there any out there where you can eat the grease? Makes the Tide Pods easier to swallow. | |||

I also used NiCopp on my S10. One piece of advice is to support the rear brake lines where they connect to the caliper. Mine vibrated and, at separate times, the line broke at the flare in the caliper fitting. Ive since replaced with braided line. | |||

I will only single flare ss lines they will crack other wise I also use an fitting when I use ss lines | |||

I used stainless hard line from Inline Tube. This hard line is double annealed and can easily be double flared. The Master Cool hydraulic flare tool is worth every penny, even for very occasional use. Perfect flare every time. | |||
