The bearings look great after about 5 seasons. I'm tempted to reuse, but I don't go through the engine every season anymore, so I figure I will put some new ones in. Figured I would start with the same bearings I have and measure for proper clearance.
Looking at the rod bearings printing on the back side: HP performance AO 020, C807u/N
Looking at the mains: HP performance CR 020 M557L/PR
Look like .020 under, but I'm not seeing that these numbers mean anything that I can find for ordering new.
Lil help anyone?

The U is the "up"per portion of the rod bearing.
The L is the "L"ower portion of the main bearing.

If they look good I'd put em back in the same order as they came out.

Unless you're using a dial bore guage to qualify new bearing clearances, you could end up with garbage in comparison to what you have now. If you have something good going stick with it.

Can you post images?

Do you like the current clearances? Are you thinking of doing something different with clearances to run lighter oil or considering new bearings out of guilt? Me I'd put em right back in unless there's a specific idea in mind. I tightened mine up for lighter oil last go around for hp - speed, otherwise I would have left well enough alone.

I like it the way it is. I may very well use them. You can't feel any of the lines at all. Smooth as glass. I guess I kinda felt guilty since they have been in there a while. I figured for sure I would have beat up the tops with mistakes learning the new combo this year. But they looked good despite me.

From the looks of it, you're doing it right. Ride it for all it's worth.

More boost!
Honestly, it bracket races very nicely at 7.20-7.30. Very easy passes. I can even make it into some q16 races without changing it. But once a year we have a q16 that is well attended and mostly big block blower cars. You don't get in without a 6 being the first number. Would be fun to race that one.

I missed the middle three top mains during disassembly I guess. I just didn’t see it somehow. I haven’t seen bearings with pock marks only on to three mains. Like a coating failure. I will post pictures

well no, but at some point bearings start loosing crush and or fit.i understand looking at the better ones and thinking put them back in.but will they be the same bearing when they go back. i have run engines for many years but most always rolled new bearings in changing nothing else.just my opinion, thats the other thing everyone has,lol

Those main bearings are played out, obviously. Could just be age. Could be a lot of things. I'd check everything close, which is routine anyway. I'd be curious what gear, what tire diameter, what rpm you cross? Mph? To figure for converter slip. Is it lugging?

Does the oil stay nice and clean of fuel, look like oil? It's on methanol correct? What oil do you run Bucky?

Methanol, VR1, vac pump, oil generally looks very good never milky. Funny the lower mains look nothing like the uppers. I was almost wondering if I had hurt the coating during cleaning. But I cleaned them all the same way. All the rod bearings look very good.

4.10 gear and ran a variety of tires this last year. NA I would cross at 8100. Turbo between 7700 and 8100. Just learning what it likes. Since changing to efi, I don't get much in the vac tank. Idle isn't overly rich like often was the case with MFI. I did have an intake gasket issue but mostly contaminated the cylinders with water. Never really saw it in the oil.

by the way my first thought on the middle bearings was moisture ,but i think its more of a norm than a problem, especially on 5 year old bearings.looks like you have a good engine that just needs a little 5 year feshen-up

I see that. Could be a fluke on the two uppers.

Definitely not lugging either 7700 - 8100

You have two played out, put some new bearings in it. I've used King quite a bit on my own stuff but I know there's better options methanol. You might wanna consider looking into that, I did last go around.

Bucky did you ask anyone from King to look at the pics and give you an idea of what might have caused that?

No, but it's not a bad idea.
